I'm one of those people who would much rather be reading a book, writing a novel, or playing a video game than exercising. However, having just hit 30 and not seeing a weight below 200 since I was in college, I know it's time to take my health seriously if I want to keep it as I continue aging. My mother (a type 1 diabetic) already has a lot of mobility and memory issues. Weight issues run rampant in my family as well.
Right now I am not on a specific diet. Mostly I am trying to eat more whole foods and keep a better balance of fruits, vegetables, meats, and grains, upping significantly the portion of fruits and vegetables I eat daily compared to my past habits. I am also steering clear of fast food and sodas. While my diet leaves room for the occasional treat, I track everything I eat to keep a better idea of how many calories I'm consuming. At 221.6 pounds right now, I've been trying to limit my intake to 1600 calories a day to kickstart some poundage loss. So far so good, considering I was 239 pounds at the beginning of this year.
I'm in this for health, not looks. If I look hot at the end of it, well, that's great, but it doesn't really matter to me. My main goal is to feel better and stay healthy longer.
I don't really have any friends on this site, but would be cool with a couple of buddies with similar interests. :)
