I'm a graduate student in year 10 of a journey to build a healthy lifestyle. I started back on Jan 1, 2000 at 210 lbs and have slowly lost, maintained, regained a bit, lost again, maintained some more, regained a bit, and so on, for ten years. In general I would say that my size (if not always my weight) has slowly, if not always steadily dropped during this process. Every 9 months or so I will make a big push, then attempt to maintain it for awhile. Inevitably holidays, travel, and slacking on the workouts makes the pants tighter until I remind myself that while food does indeed make me feel good and bring me comfort and happiness, feeling and looking great are pretty awesome feelings too. I can't quite seem to learn to enjoy the time it takes to do decent cardio, but in the interim I've become a pilates instructor, so I'm not a complete slug. My goal is to make the fluctuations smaller and smaller and the periods between committed exercise routines shorter and shorter. I started this whole journey on what was, at the time, a free and helpful website, ediets.com. It's changed, but fatsecret is everything good I remember about ediets and more! I'm excited to keep fighting the good fight.
