This is another personal milestone for me.

The last time I made a real attempt to lose weight was back in 2004. I had gone over the 305 mark and was determined not to be over 300 lbs! There were other changes going on in my life as well. The company I was working at had just merged with another and was in the process of closing down our Alabama office and moving all operations to South Carolina.

I was part of the transition team that was moving over to SC, so I was working Monday and Tuesday in Alabama, traveling on Wednesday and working Thursday and Friday in SC before driving back home Saturday. It was tough on the family, however, with company provided meals and a hotel with a workout area, I was actually able to eat healthier and get into an exercise routine.

Using the Weight Watchers point system, I was able to drop from 305 to 275 in three months. Then everything fell apart. The newly merged company was purchased by a competitor, who then decided to shut down both the Alabama and SC offices to "cut costs" and keep all operations in Baltimore. I was not offered a position in this new company. So here I was with a pregnant wife and a 5 year old son and impending unemployment. My diet and exercise program was forgotten.

In the end things turned out ok. Knowing that my wife was pregnant, the "old company" made sure we were taken care of. They gave me a really good severance package, including paying for health insurance 100% for my family through the rest of the pregnancy plus one month just in case there were complications.

I was able to find a new job fairly quickly, at least quickly for a graphic artist in a flooded market ... but now I have gotten off topic and into my personal history. Sorry.

So the point is, 275lbs was my old "record weight". Today I fell below that for the first time since grunge music was popular, I had no kids, and everyone was concerned about Y2K.

This time there will be no stopping me. I have come too far to give up now. Besides, I figure since 2016 was my "crappy year", the Universe is done messing with me for the time being and moved on to someone else ... at least for a little while.

Good health!

That is wonderful!!! Sending big {{hugs}}, and I think it's good to reflect back and write about the last time you were around this weight. It helps us to contemplate the distinctions between the past and the present, identify those those triggers that throw us off track, and gives us the opportunity to contemplate how we want to handle stressful times in the future in a way that helps us to keep the weight off!
