I want to curse my scale and my body right about now! I've managed to gain 5 lbs in the last week when the most I ate in any one day was 788cal. Every other day was lower than that and I still gained weight. I didn't eat junk and ate mostly whole foods so I would expect a loss, forget a loss I'd be fine if I stayed the same or even gained a lb or two...but five! Maybe it is time for me to see the doctor like has been suggested, because with the amount of food I'm eating, I should not be gaining.
244.4 lb Lost so far: 55.6 lb.    Still to go: 114.4 lb.    Diet followed 100%.

If you are eating less than 1000 calories a day and gaining, I would go to the doctor and have my thyroid levels checked. Something is going.

I agree, something might be off with your thyroid levels.

I do take a couple medications that cause weight gain, and it just occured to me that one of them was increased last week. That could be the cause, unfortunately I cannot go off the medication.

So maybe some of it is actually just meds-induced water retention? Don't stress, and just do the best you can to be healthy.

Definitely talk to your doctor. They may be able to change your prescription to another med that does the same thing, but without the weight-gain side effect. Good luck.

Unfortunately this was already a last resort med, and there are no others that are effective without this side-effect, so I just have to do the best I can to lose weight with its interference. (and unfortunately it isn't water weight, it messes with your metabolism and hunger cues to make you gain weight, I can control the hunger cues part, but not the metabolism part). BTW this is a psychiatric medication, and I really should go in to see my general practitioner about why I can't seem to lose weight, if maybe there is something going on besides the medication.

I would see your primary care doc. Maybe you could look at the exercise component? Exercise produce endorphins that soothe the mind. I get very moody and sad if i don't exerciseuntil i sweat 3 times a week. Maybe focusing on exercise and healthy diet will allow you to eventually reduce meds? I know it helped my sister reduce some of hers. eif it doesn't work, at least out wint hurry! fdefnitely see your doc To ruleout anything else too.

I exercise every day. At least one hour in the gym plus I don't drive so I walk a lot...I don't log it here because I am lazy lol, sometimes I log my walking, but I already exercise, but thanks for the suggestion! And the meds are for hallucinations and delusions so endorphins aren't going to be very helpful there. Good for mood, but don't have much effect on psychotic sx.

Wow. Auto correct: if it does not work at least it won't hurt.

Olanzapine makes everyone gain weight. Fluphenazine is one of those old school meds I've seen to be very effective with those symptoms. It is a weekly injection. So, don't hate your body or your scale. Just tell your doc the side effect of weight gain is not acceptable.
