I tried WW, which left me starving and/or feeling compelled to eat ALL the time, and then I did low carb and added in a little carbohydrate addicts which didn't do me any good either. So today I decided to pull the NAFANY book off the shelf and blow the dust off and try to relearn the REAL program. I discovered I was eating too much cheese, too many artificial sweeteners, too many peanuts, and likely too much frankenfood to be really successful. I was hoping to have dropped a good amount of weight before my friend's wedding next Saturday, which probably won't be all that noticeable since I didn't get my crap together sooner, but I'm still gonna stick to the program. Every time I get going on Atkins there's inevitably a day where I say "one cheat won't hurt" and then its all to hell in a hand basket from there. I'm going to do everything I can to avoid that this time. There are people out there who have gone from my size to a size 6 doing Atkins in 6 months (pls don't tell me that's not healthy, being almost 300lbs isn't healthy either) so I can do it, or at least get back to a size I'm happy with since I haven't seen a size 6 since maybe elementary school. Anyway, the nagging feeling that I always have to eat is starting to dissipate, so I take that as a good sign. That's all for now.

If you actually follow the plan, and don't try to change it to suit you... don't try to cheat yourself on calories (that doesn't help)... and you are faithful - than one day down the road when you are at your goal weight and moving into long term maintenance - you'll be in much better control of the rare 'indulgence'. From now til then, just keep reminding yourself this way of eating adds back layers of new foods slowly... it's not that you can't have them... you just CHOOSE not to have them NOW! YOU CAN DO THIS if you really want it!

Not sure why you would be starving on the new WW plan. It focuses on whole foods and you can eat all the fruit and veggies you need to feel satisfied. I actually do a modified Atkins on WW. I can't do regular Atkins because it causes me problems. But you should definitely pick something and stick with it. Consistency is very important to weight loss. Make up your mind and just do it. Good luck!

Each of us is different. It is very difficult to stick to Atkins for years, or even WW. I may try to do a modified version of both... A person can eat too much fruit too - especially if they're not exercising it will cause weight gain... Atkins has been the only thing that has curbed my appetite and I am off the artificial sweeteners now too... I suppose I will try low carbing in a matter of days for the long haul, it really works... I don't need pasta, rice, bread or cake and pie to feel happy...

my 2 cents...each person is different in how they work off the weight...what works for one...doesnt always work for the next...its a matter of finding what works for you and then...sticking with it...for me the first 50 came off quick...and that was my motivation...seeing the weight come off an the clothes get looser...you can do this...its just a matter of finding what works for you and sticking with it...
