NOT VEGAN GOING V E G A N! I love animal protein, and animal products like cheese so I can not say I am vegan. But I am following a vegan diet. I am avoiding meats, but I am still allow myself cheese. I started four days ago. I am keeping my fat super low, and protein low.. carbs high. This is the complete opposite of what I was doing (LCHF).

Day 1 I weighed 232. I started an all you can eat fruit diet. The staple was ripened bananas for breakfast. That is 4 or 5 banana smoothie. For lunch all you can eat fruit I ate plums. They are always mono-meal so only one thing at each meal until dinner. But for lunch I've eatten pineapples, Banana smoothies, plums. That is so far.

For dinner I really need a hot meal for some vegans they eat raw so they do not eat cooked foods. I am not going that approach, I need a hot meal. So for dinner I made an amazing bean stew with corn, onion, garlic, cilantro, jalapeno pepper, and tomato sauce. I used 1 can of each item and ate the entire yield. Was amazing..

I am never hungry. If I want to munch or snack I grab a fruit so I never feel deprived. Though I do miss me some things that the diet forbids. I do see myself eating meat but VERY limitedly. I want my diet to be 90% plant based fruit or veg.

I am happy to report that starting day 4 I have my weight loss. I lost 2.5 lbs. That's huge for me.

One huge change with this diet I've noticed from day one is I am no longer constipated. I went from having 2 BM a day to 4. So the fruit is really cleaning me out and I go pee more. I am super happy. My first goal to reach is 199 lbs. I'm finally back to losing weight and I am NOT starving myself. I get to eat juicy ripe fruits, and veg.

Though I am not vegan, I am livings a mostly vegan lifestyle. I am not raw either.. I'm allow some meat products like cheese and feta.
229.5 lb Lost so far: 2.5 lb.    Still to go: 89.5 lb.    Diet followed N/A.

Track your blood Glucose like a HAWK. And have your insulin levels tested. Be very careful choosing that diet. Especially high sugar diets like high fruit. I don't even know you and I instantly just got worried for you.

Deborah, one of my favorite snacks/salad add-ons is edamame. Very high in protein and fiber and very filling. If you are soy/estrogen sensitive though you'll want to be careful not to consume too much.

That's not the point. Eating all that sugar isn't good. Remember, humans are supposed to eat what is native to the area they were born in. And unless you come from 5 different countries and climates, your body isn't going to react well to consuming that much sugar. Remember that fruit and even a LOT of veggies only grew during the spring and summer months. And even then we only had access to what was native to our area. We mostly ate MEAT and FAT. Which is why Keto works. If it wasn't working then I can only assume there was something you were missing. What exactly were you doing?

I keep saying there's no such thing as a "one size fits all" diet. Fruit will definitely help keep you regular, though that's a lot of fruit. Like you I am not now, nor will I ever be vegan, but I'm not so sure about LCHF either. I like Balance and Variety - but good luck to you on your weight loss efforts.

I agree with KTMM, I now only buy locally grown veg. and meat raised less than a 25m radius. There really is something to that. It also tastes much better

I agree that is a lot of sugar however if it works for her it works for her. Everyone finds a lifestyle that works for them. VLC did not work for me. I constantly got headaches and felt nausea. Now I do low-moderate carb paleo- 1-2 pc fruit a day but mostly meat and veggies. I dont usually count my carbs anymore but when I do I am about 80g. But my point is that one diet may not work for everyone. Keto certainly did not work for me in combination with my training regimen.

Deborah, Sounds like this is working for you and your body...Great Job! We have a lot in common, thankfully no diabetes so fruit is very good although I don't eat much because I worry it will cause cravings for carbs. I'm a vegetarian (dairy, fish, no meat) not willing to give up dairy. Websters dictionary states, a Vegan is a strict vegetarian who consumes no animal food or dairy products. (Not necessarily raw foods) Feel free to send me a buddy request! : )

Im not telling her NOT to do this. I am just advising her that she should monitor her blood glucose and Insulin levels while she adapts to it. If it works for her, that's awesome.

Macros only matter for lean mass preservation, not for scale weight loss. Its the calories - http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/11/08/twinkie.diet.professor/

Knuckles Thanks for that, but I just walked away from LCHF. That got me 100 EXTRA points on my cholesterol. If we talk about what we were created to eat we have to look at plants fruit and veg. Only after the flood of Noah's time was meat introduced. We were designed for plants. Though i know you want to say meat and fat is the way to go.. if I kept with that I would end up with heart disease. That was MY bodies response to that lifestyle some has a raise of cholesterol in the beginning but than it balance out and came down. That did not happen with me, it slowly for the past two years went up, up, up. From 179 to 265. Anything over 200 is considered TOO high. So I am not at all interested in going back to meat and fat. Thanks for the input. I get you, but that lifestyle was bad for MY body. I am glad it works for you! :)
