losingtowin1's Journal, 07 April 2022

After 7 weeks, it's beginning to take hold. I'm forming some good habits. Tracking and weighing food is a priority because the nutrition of some foods can be a surprise. Glad I passed on salted sunflower seeds that were included with a ready made salad. I love them but decided those seeds are for the birds ;) I hope they enjoyed them. I'm pleased I have a daily outdoor exercise routine in place and am sticking with it even when the weather doesn't cooperate. It's either been rain, sleet, slush, snow or a combination of them every day this week. I just dressed for the weather and got out there. My face is less puffy and smoother since I'm drinking lots of water now. It's becoming easier to do things around the house without tiring quickly. My plan for this week is to continue treating my body with respect, continue with what's working - planned healthy food choices (a treat here and there), daily exercise(increasing it from time to time - no pressure)and to just continue to move in a positive direction.

Sunflower seeds along with other things like fresh and roasted edamame, pistacios, walnuts, almonds, chia, ground flax, hemp seeds are powerhouses of nutrition and should not be overlooked. So glad you are seeing results from the lifestyle changes you are making. Keep it up.

@Kenna Morton thanks for the support. My favorites are natural almonds and walnuts. I consume some each day. What are your favorites?

I make a lunchtime concoction of plain yogurt, blueberries, a homemade granola that has oats walnuts, pecans, unsweetened coconut, pistachio, dry roasted edamame, pumpkin seeds and I make a stir in of PB powder, chia, ground flax, hulled hemp seed. I have been hooked on it for years and it perfectly meets a portion of my personal nutritional needs in an incredible delicious, easy to throw together dish. . I try to met my bodies nutritional needs on a meal to meal basis. And, my “sundae” is about 350 calories, is filling and easily holds me to dinner.

Vegan here -- I always have sunflower seeds in the pantry for salad toppings. Just 3 tablespoons has 5 grams of protein! Nuts & seeds are dense calorie-wise, but they're not empty calories by any means. They have fiber, potassium, iron, and protein. I have jars of almonds, cashews, peanuts, walnuts, toasted edamame, pinenuts and pistachios on hand. Next time, consider the seeds (but always pass on croutons and dried cranberries, which are empty calories with zero nutritional benefits).

@kaj584life I can see how that might be annoying. Have you found some other treats that you like?

@JustBananas Agree, croutons are of no interest to me either. However,I do enjoy dried cranberries and eat those in small portions occassionally.

losingtowin1- Protein shakes! Pork rinds! Wasa crackers with Weight Watcher or Lite Laughing Cow cheese. Other than that, not really!!! Fresh fruit, too. I love fruit! And sometimes cucumbers with hummus or guac👌
