Divided By Zero's Journal, 03 June 2009

I don't even know how I should weigh in anymore. I'm running so much lately that it's throwing off the scale numbers due to sweat loss. Yesterday I was up to 195, and this morning I was 191 and change.

I really need to finish up creating my challenge. I've been slacking on the strength workouts lately because I'm so busy with cardio stuff. Right now my workouts look like...
M-Karate (2hr.)
T-Running
W-Karate (2hr.)
R-Running
F-Strength
S-Running (long run)
Su- REST!!!

I need to do my strength workouts before karate, but I don't want to be exhausted before class even starts. I would do it after, but by the time I get home it's 9:30 or later and all I want to do is take a shower and crash. Any ideas?

So... I've been picking away at my self esteem in the mirror lately. Okay, not really. But I have been paying a little more attention to my body composition. I'm starting to get some definition in my arms and legs, and my face is a lot thinner than it was, but the damn Budweiser tumor (beer belly) remains. F***ing genetics. It seems that's where I'm more likely to store fat and it's going to be the last thing that goes. On the positive side I no longer have that rock hard stomach fat that gives people heart attacks. Now I just have normal blubber... hooray. LOL

Oh, and I went to get another set of running shorts and a shirt yesterday. I had to go down a size with the shirt and get a medium. I've never worn a medium before, and it's kind of weird. It's good that I've lost enough to start going into smaller sizes, but at the same time I always thought I had enough muscle to keep me in a large shirt even with the weight loss. Oh well. I know that when you lose weight you also lose a little muscle (there really isn't a way around it), but I'm stronger than before, so I guess I shouldn't complain. It's not like I'm super tall, so a medium is probably where I need to be when it's all said and done.

Well, I don't have any ideas on where to put your strength, cuz I struggle with where to put what exercise all the time. I see what it might feel weird to be a medium but I think you're right. It's probably where you need to be. As far as a little muscle loss, it could be true, but you're doing this right. You're building at the same time, so it's probably close to no muscle loss. It's defining the muscles that I think will be my biggest challenge when I get closer to goal. Good luck! You've been a real inspiration to me.

:) I think it's so cute that you kinda wanted to stay in a size large shirt and not a medium. That's a boy for ya! Good job on the weekly planning. All that training is amazing! As for the self esteem-- I think you are totally good looking! Don't worry about the stomach-- everybody worries about their stomach. :) Also-- nice cartoons! lol. They made me laugh.

To a guy a medium might as well be a 'super tiny'. That's definitely dude logic. Haha

Just pick one day as your official weigh-in day. Make sure you wear the same clothes, same scale and same time each week. You can still check your weight every day, but if it's going up and down all the time it's hard to tell. But you are doing great!!

One day? Phhhhtt. Obsessive Compulsive Scale Disorder will not allow me to do such a thing. LOL

I loved your journal entry for today. Remember my issues w/ the scale going up and down, not really a plateau? I have decided to (check my weight daily, of course) chart it once a week. Pick the day, and fluctuations won't matter as much. I'm working hard to show a loss next weigh in! As for strength training- I was reading that so many are getting exhausted from long workouts, and 2 shorter work outs a day may be more efficient. Maybe mornings on the days of Karate? lol, my husband is now 165 and back into mediums, he's lifting weights again so idk if the mediums will stick for long(j/k he won't get that big)! OH and now I know you understand my belly issue.. althought its not a beer tumor (lmao!) its more like a tortilla one! Yes-genetics. :( I do think you look great too! it shall be the last to go...its what I keep hearing, darn it! ;/

Ugh. Mornings? Like... early? Bleh. I know it's a good idea, but I hate working out in the mornings. I'm so stiff when I wake up. I might have to play around with it though and see how it goes. If the gut is going to be the last to go then I guess that just means I need to step it up and burn more calories faster. :)

what about yoga!! I use to always be stiff too, I was an old lady about body aches. Yoga is soooo calming, the stretching really helps. I don't have time to do am workouts BUT I ALWAYS do a few stretches I learned from it! Ok... join me for a lunch work out!?

It's not really a flexibility issue (even though I DO need to work on flexibility). It's just that early in the morning I feel sluggish. I really should work on some sort of stretching routine in the mornings to help me wake up though.

You've come such a long way. Seriously. You don't even look like the same person you were almost 70 pounds ago. There's nothing wrong with a little belly pudge on a guy. Seriously. Abs are pretty much unrealistic for regular people. Lol. At least that's what I tell myself... >.> ........Maybe you could fit some stregnth moves in on your lunch hour? Or your breaks at work? I try to go out in the parking lot and walk around on my lunches and breaks now. And you know... no one needs to know what size shirt you're wearing except you, right? ;-) We won't ask, you don't have to tell. Lol.

I know, I know. It's just that I've made so much progress and now I want more. Yeah, I'm greedy like that. I want to see how far I can take it and what exactly I'm capable of. And I want to be able to set a good example for the people I know.

I feel the same way. Now that I have reached 2 goals, I want to set higher limits. I want the body I never could even dream about. Why not? and yeah while there is NO prob at all w/ leaving some pudge, why not push 100% if you are completely capable of it! Ryan Reynolds quoted on Mens health mag "I don't expect success, I train for it" and he looooooks yummy! I want to see how far I can go too!
