Sandy701's Journal, 03 January 2011

First Monday weigh-in of the new year. Weight held steady since 12/31, so I'm thrilled. Made, and held, my (interim) goal weight of 180 for 2010.

I've adjusted my weight loss goals for the first 3 months of 2011 to allow myself 6 weeks, or 1.5 months, to drop each 5-pound increment. That's less than a pound a week, but it seems realistic given the past couple months and my overall trend. I suspect my slower rate of loss may be due to no weekly lawn work, as my loss slowed about the time I stopped cutting and trimming the lawn on a weekly basis! We'll see what happens when spring comes. I'll reevaluate my plans/goals in April.

Walked 3.7 miles this AM; one loop cut short due to loose dog. DH has gone back to work today after holiday time off. It's been nice having him home, but it's also nice to get the house back to normal now, and on a normal schedule, if you know what I mean!
180.0 lb Lost so far: 55.0 lb.    Still to go: 35.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Congrats on maintianing, Sandy. I am not sure when the gain happened since I had not weighed in so ling, but it was over the holidays, and actually I am not too terribly upset with the gain. I didn't weigh and didn't have to use the scale to control the amount of goodies I ate...but I sure would have liked to have not gained at all...but as Moose says, it is what it is! Back at it now, and that is what truly matters. I know what you mean about getting things back to normal...I love hveing the kids home, and the holidays, but by the time they are over I am exhausted and ready for my quiet, uneventful life again. All is good in the world!

Very nice job Sandy. Do you have an animal control officer you can call on those loose dogs? We have a leash law here and if any are running loose, they find the owners and have a talk with them. It's terrrible that you should have to cut your walks short because of the neighborhood dogs running loose. Sorry, I really have a issue with dogs running loose around here. Really nice goals you have set for yourself. Very reasonable. I should probably do the same because my weight loss has slowed considerably now that I have about 15 pounds left to go. Have a wonderful day and hope to chat later.:)

Yes Laurie, I'm sure I could call someone on those dogs but as long as they're friendly and not out there every single day, I doubt that I will. And, it wouldn't be an issue with one of my dogs but the other is sometimes afraid of unknown dogs, even friendly ones, so I try to manage his encounters. With unknown dogs off leash, I can't do that, so I divert. Except for one very old Lab who's always off leash at the end of a cul-de-sac, "most" of the others are occasional encounters; kids leaving doors open, dogs getting out of a fence, etc.

Thanks Paula. One pound every week or so really tries my patience, but at least it's movement in the right direction. And, once spring comes and I'm outside dripping sweat dealing with our lawn, who knows...I might be back to a pound in slightly less than a week. While I never get the excitement of a "whoosh," I don't get the shock of a 5-pound gain in a day either. There's something to be said for boring ol' consistency.
