I'm pretty sure I can't do a one handed burpee. now I'm curious. that sounds brutal.

It sounds like she doesn't know how to train in a modified method or she's dangerously apathetic. Be super careful. My dad consulted with a trainer a few years ago, and trained him all wrong. He was in his early 60's. Well, my dad ended up with a shoulder injury from weights the trainer would push him to do. My dad is now 76, and he still has problems and nagging aches in that shoulder. If you feel this trainer won't or doesn't know how to develop modified and moderate methods of fitness tailored to you, drop them. Stay healthy.

I can't do a regular burpee, are you kidding me? LOL I hope you never get that trainer again!

You are not paying someone to disregard your capabilities and be disrespectful or dismissive. Do not train with this person again - many red flags!

I'd be questioning her credentials/certifications, and I'm quite serious. There's a huge difference between pushing yourself to the limit and pushing yourself to injury. I've had some great trainers who work with professional athletes (NFL, Olympians) and now know I can walk away from the ones that don't know what they're doing. Listen to your little voice. It's nothing personal, she's either ignorant or doesn't care. Injuring someone is not okay.

I need to add, there is nothing wrong with being pushed to your safe limits, that's what a good trainer helps you achieve. Some of that depends on coaching style which gets modified to the individual client. BUT, if you are at risk of injury, stop and ask for the modifier. Period. And don't be afraid to ask to work with someone else.

Trainers should provide modified / lighter versions and encourage their use. That’s how it works.

I'm going with TomLong's comment, along with: She acts tough but it's obvious the lack of expertise. She's not an expert. A leader knows how to lead.

Never had a trainer and just based on fs stories, I don't want one. Enjoy your dinner and margarita! I'm having Chinese. I just feel hungry today. Great job logging and on your 1/2 pound lost. 💪🏼

DP, you already have a trainer, you just don’t realize it. 😂

Ha. Probably some truth to that. A lot of truth to that, really. 😉💪🏼

I want to say just like in anything there are good trainers and bad trainers. Don't let the bad ones stop you, just move on to someone better. They're out there. I'm still friends with my favorite trainer, she had to move on to a better paying job since we both live in SoCal, but we still talk.
