Sandy701's Journal, 06 November 2010

The magic number 50 - Whew!! Pretty soon we'll be talking about real weight here. LOL!! It has taken almost 7-1/2 months, but, hey, I'd be here in November no matter if I started Atkins or not....so much better to be here 50 pounds lighter.

This might actually turn out to be my halfway point. While I set my goal for 145 because I couldn't face having to lose 100 pounds initially, I actually feel that my goal should be 135-140. But like everyone who hasn't seen their goal weight in quite some time (try 20-25 years), I'll just have to see how things work out and how my body responds come spring, when I begin to lose the last third. (Goal for 2/1/2011 is 175 which is 2/3rds gone of original goal.)

OMG....I need to recheck my BMI. I think I'm on the verge of changing categories into "merely" overweight.
185.0 lb Lost so far: 50.0 lb.    Still to go: 40.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Thanks, kboat. I just rechecked my BMI and I've made it into the overweight category. Seems almost silly to be thrilled about being "overweight," but it's still a major improvement.

Sandy, I know how you feel. I was really hoping to lose 100 pounds this year, but heck at this point I am happy with the 71 and will be really thrilled if I can make it to 80 by the end of December. I am in the overweight segment too, but that is so much better than severely obese, which is where I started. Congrats on the great progress that you have made! FIFTY POUNDS, that is like carrying around 5-10 lb bags of potatoes. Go to the store and just pick them up in your hands and see how it feels...you will be amazed! And you'll think "Wow, no wonder my rear was dragging all the time!" lol Have an awesome weekend, skinny!

Aw shucks, thanks Laura and Stef. "Skinny?" Well, I'd say today is definitely a skinny kind of day. I've already done the calculation on where I'll move on into the "normal" category and that's at 155. That really is so very doable, even though it's THIRTY MORE pounds. I just need to keep reminding myself that hey, I've already lost that much and then some. My goal for the end of the year is to get to 180, or 55 pounds lost since late March. Is it really just 1 out of 4 who is considered "normal" weight??? Wow, that's amazing, and not in a good way.

Thanks, Laurie. I sure hope so. I figure that, just like November, February's gonna come around anyway, might as well be there a few pounds less, right?

OMG Lotus...smiling?...I'm beaming!!!! It's always nice to hear that someone understands whatever I might be feeling and writing at the time. As for being 21-23, wow, that's probably the nicest compliment I've received in quite some time. One day at a time, one pound at a time, right?
