Katsolo's Journal, 13 April 2020

Another long walk yesterday followed by a swim followed by pasta, the rest of which is going into the freezer today.

Ordered from my friend's restaurant, it was so good eating something I didn't make myself. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it's true. Weight is up in all three categories: fat, muscle and water, so we'll work on that the rest of the week. Wearing freshly washed jeans this morning and they're fine, but we don't want to start a trend.

Swim stats yesterday were great. Even at the higher current I'm now in lower heart range split between cardio and fat loss zones. I'm not training that way, but when I first turned it up a couple of weeks ago there was a good deal of anaerobic so there is definite progress. I was thinking about it in the water yesterday, but if I set up my bike on the resistance trainer, I could have my own pretend mini triathlon. that would be funny. although there will not be any running for me except on treadmill. Too much knee pain and it's not worth it.

I finally gave in and ordered a new pair of hiking boots yesterday after another set of blisters. I love the ones I have, but the insides are falling apart (foam is crumbling, lining is shredded) and I've tried a lot of different things to fix them including duct tape. I just keep ending up with the nastiest blisters. I had looked into getting them fixed previously, but it's almost as much as a new pair. Shame, they're great boots. Bought them in January 2016 according to Amazon, so I definitely got 1000 miles out of them and life goes on. I haven't decided whether to keep them for lawn mowing or build a funeral pyre for them and burn them in the backyard at sunset. Nothing will happen until the new ones arrive. I hate buying boots without being able to try them on. Which leads to my other lamentation - I miss being able to hike the canyons. Streets are fine, but I'm getting bored and there are so many people to navigate around, even at night. That said, sticking to the neighborhood and staying out of trouble.

Edit because I forgot to enter my weight. Also, I know why restaurant food tastes better - salt!!!

It's raining again. Happy Monday.

Happy Monday to you also! I don't like buying shoes without trying on either. I've put off buying a pair of exercise shoes because of that. Hopefully not to much longer before the canyon gets hiked.

I really miss those canyons. Buy the exercise shoes, you can always return them. That's what I'm telling myself.
