Adaram's Journal, 27 September 2010

Pretty good weekend. My son's hockey season officially started. They won 3 and lost 1 so that's a good start. Personally, he did really well. 3 assists in 4 games is a good start to a new season.

On the bad side, we had a chat yesterday and he is seriously questioning his faith. I know, as a 16 year old, it's not unusual, but it has really hit me hard for some reason. Pray, stand by him. and support is about all we can do at this stage. I was the same, rebelling against my faith for a long time starting around that age. I only wish I had not wasted those years, and pray that he won't either.

Onward and upward.

The hockey scores sound amazing. Special times! Coincidentally I also have a 16 yr old son who is going through the same process as yours. I agree with you. It's all part of a natural process. We have to step back from something in order to really see it, and make a decision for it. Your son will know God and be in direct contact with Him through being with you. God made you for that purpose. Good thing there are lots of hockey times ahead! ;-) Excellent motto: onward and upward!

That's interesting because I did the same around that age but then things happened that let me "see the light", I hope he gets thru it quick. Good luck and have a great Monday buddy !

Thanks buddies. Prayer is going to be our answer. We have lots of friends praying, and we'll just keep on keeping on with him. He's a really good kid, so I am pretty sure he'll come around. He just needs to see for himself that the Lord has far more to offer than the world.

Do you have a favorite Professional Hockey team? I think a lot of us have rebelled when growing up but if, as parents, we pray and lead by example I think many come back to their Faith, Often with a greater desire to develop a relationship with God. Maybe because we know then that it really is our own decision and we aren't just doing it because Mom and Dad expect us to?

Just a thought, when I look back on years that I used to think I wasted them but now I look back at that Lisa in a kinder and compassionate way and realize I wouldn't have learned some great lessons if it hadn't been for those growing pains. Prayers that your son finds his way easily. TOWANDA!!!!

@Odissey Yes, the Washington Capitals have been my team since the early '80's. No Cup yet, but it'll come someday! I agree 100%; my son needs to make it his own Faith, and his own decision, and we can only lead by example. @Lisa Thanks. I agree that bad decisions teach us life lessons, but man I hope he doesn't make as many as I did between now and when he recognizes his true need for a Saviour!!
