Maintenance may be a problem. I said and knew that although I never achieved sustained Keto dieting (averaging 35g carbs w/too much protein), with Intermittent Fasting, I lost most of the weight I was looking to lose at a fast pace, reaching 109. Day before yesterday, I allowed myself the noodle wrapping on the wontons in the Wor Wonton Soup at a Chinese Restaurant on the way home from visiting my husbands dying sister. Seems reasonable to me, even though when I said, in maintenance I want to allow myself a little more leeway, like perhaps an apple. I have been very strict, having no grains, rice, potatoes, fruit, or wine for 3 months, except for Christmas Day. The noodle part did not taste wonderful, it was bland. I went up .6 pounds.

Yesterday, our daughter and husband came back for 1 night, for a dentist appointment, before going home to Arizona. We had a nice dinner sitting and talking at the dining room table. Even though I hadn't had any wine since Christmas day, I eventually had 2 ounces. Then after my nice big dinner, and not needing anymore, I cut a small piece of baked potato and had a tablespoon of sour cream on it: absolutely delicious. With dishes done, I brought out the cherry pie, and proceeded to taste it, which I hadn't allowed for 3 months except for Christmas Day. Boy, that sweetness tasted pretty, pretty good. Little by little I eventually ate 1/2 (or a little more) of a piece and went up another 1.4 lbs. Maintenance may be a problem: I need a whole new mindset, and like some individuals trying to go on a new diet, wonder where I am going to get it.

This may sound very compulsive to others who weigh more but I am small. If you lose the weight you want, you will eventually come to this same point, of wondering what you are going to allow yourself in maintenance, and how you develop a new mindset. My brain is strange, and I haven't figured this out yet. I am as old as the hills, and yo-yo dieted all my life, but have never developed a mode, or mindset for maintenance.

I kept my eating window to 7 hours which seemed pretty good, but I'm going to need to keep it up especially since I never made true Keto!

SnowyOne, it may be that you can allow yourself "tastes" here and there but not all in one day! The thing is: fluctuations of a pound or two can be fluid or any number of other factors. Perhaps allowing your "maintenance weight" to be within a range, instead of an exact number, of pounds will help ease the tendency to "maintenance OCD mentality." (Speaking for myself, I'm a little "loony" about weight no matter what I weigh. SHEESH!)
