Snowwhite100's Journal, 04 February 2019

I got dizzy getting up from a chair today (even my legs tightened up), and had heard here on FS that could mean a lack of minerals or water or something?
My slight raise in weight (.2 lb) proves the point that it usually takes more than one day to really lose a pound, that it takes a deficit over a period of time to make up the 3600 calories of one pound. The water our bodies retain from salt, or how much is in our intestines contribute to what the scale says. I had fasted for 22 hours before lunch yesterday, ending eating at 2pm, and started fasting again. From 2pm yesterday to 8am this morning when I weighed myself is another 18 hours, and the scale was up a fifth of a pound. My lunch was only soup and salad but the salad dressing was calorie dense. I picked out the potato from the clam chowder, and every last noodle from the chicken soup. So it will be back down eventually if I eat right.
Fasting total today 22 hours. PS I have started taking potassium 200-400mg
112.2 lb Lost so far: 6.6 lb.    Still to go: 0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Electrolyte imbalances can cause muscle cramps and "twitches." Drinking a simple cup of bouillon daily can help replenish sodium. You might research food sources of potassium and magnesium and quality mineral supplements. Also, you might check with your doctor about your lightheadedness on standing. My hypertension responds promptly to weight loss: Just 15 pounds can cause those same symptoms, which I recognize in myself as "orthostatic hypotension." I contact my internist about adjusting (lowering, actually) the dosage of my anti-hypertensive medication. (I've reduced my dose of lisinopril from 40 mg/day to 10 mg/day, and have eliminated verapamil altogether!)

Are you sure you should be fasting? I am unable to fast because of health concerns and medication. Perhaps eating smaller meals on a more regular basis will help.

You are already thin, health try to find a healthy lifestyle. Healthy does not mean skinny.

I eat salt and take potassium although I understand we need about 2400mg of potassium and a banana is only about 400mg. I take a low dose of calcium but more magnesium. If I take more than 1 cap of Magnesium, even glycinate which is easier on the stomach, my digestive track rebels. I never take Oxide since it is only 6% absorbed. I do take meds for high blood pressure to get it down in the 130's to 150's, it varies a lot. One day when I hadn't even taken it my systolic was only 90, so I monitor. I should remember my hearts electrical problem can cause dizzyness, it's been so long, I'd forgotten, plus both sides has slush back from the valves. I shouln't have brought it up, just heard some others speak of it. I'm fasting because of fuzzy brain, wanting Autophagy, but my bladder's interstitial cystitis (bladder lining compromised) is so, so much better I'm not even having pain from that. Now if my back would just calm down... I'm not skinny yet, not even thin, just look normal. Don't even want to look skinny, just trim. It would be nice to get rid of some of this stomach. Three months ago my husband told me I was fat, pretty sure he was speaking of the rolls of fat at my stomach. I can get into most 8's now, except in the waist. I am only 5'1". Had a slender waist till about age 60 or 65, then it spread like most women. I let myself go, exercise wise. Was never one to exercise much with serious back problems. Walked years ago, and used to do stairs, 100 flights: up forward, down backwards. Have lots of size 4 in the attic.

If you are 112 lbs u are skinny fat, best solution is strength training for that issue and a slight calorie deficit

your husband should of never said that...how tall are you ?

5' 1". What is skinny fat? My stomach, hips, and legs are sure not skinny. Maybe just from the neck up. Is strength training lifting weights? It hurts to carry my purse.

5’1 and 112lbs definitely skinny fat, ur fat ratio is higher than a fit persons. Nutrition will never tackle ur issue, the solution is strength training and if you can lift well don’t know what to say 🤷🏻‍♀️

Start with using your own body, add little 5lb weights. The reason why you can’t lift it’s cause you don’t have Muscle aka skinny fat. Google it, educate yourself so you can come up with my conclusion 😉

I used to feel like that if I was no eating all day that’s one of the problems with fasting

Dizziness is not normal. but she claims it’s from a heart replacement thingy, that’s why I did not comment on that

Were you fat adapted when you began you fast? Do you test your urine or better yet blood for ketones?

Omg epidemic much...one only need a balanace diet and exercise that’s all.

There’s loads of hops in beer that’s got to count for something To be serious with me I used to work 12 hours without a break and not really anywhere to get healthy food not really an excuse now I’ve taken early retirements 16 years early there’s no excuse so most of my thought process is about my diet not building muscle but losing fat

So, you are on high blood pressure and Atrial fibrillation meds it sounds like. A systolic reading of 90 would definitely cause dizziness. How often are you monitoring your blood pressure? Are you keeping a journal? When was the last time you had a blood panel and spoke with your internist? At 77, you should really consider a well balanced meal plan where you are getting the vitamins and minerals you need from food. The idea of 22 hour fasts seems dangerous. Please know that I am concerned about your overall health. Take care and forget what your husband said. Is he thin and in perfect shape? Bet he's got a belly. We know he's a bully. ♥️

Fat on Skinny fat people hides around organs and our fat shows (the ones that are obviously obese)

I was reading about skinny fat, when you are in this stage your health is as bad as when you are obese. Cardio would help you, cause cardio is for heath ✔️ But strength training and a balance diet will do better 💞

As far as exercise, there are programs for seniors called "Sit and be Fit." You can also download them from the internet and stream them over your computer or television. I have a entire plan designed during physical therapy along with a weight and cardio program, but I am in my 60s. I recommend the first exercise program for you. You will not need weights and will focus on balance and strength using your body without pain.
