I don't think I have ever posted on this site before but I am hopeful that by putting myself out there I will find the support I clearly need to get and stay on track. My cardiologist wants me on a 1,200 calorie per day diet with a goal of losing at least 50 lbs. When I was doing well on this journey I was faithful to it. I logged everything that I consumed and I was excited. I need to find that feeling again because I clearly am headed in the wrong direction. I see him again in June and I would like to at least be 1/2 way or more toward that goal. I admit I am a sugar and carbs addict and have tried every alternative to sugar out there but can't seem to find anything that brings that "sugar" feeling to the party! So I guess I just have to find a way to eliminate the sugar from my diet...oh how I'll miss my morning cup of coffee! Anyway I don't want this to turn into a pitty party because I have also made a commitment to myself this year to "let it go" and try to be always positive and just accepting things for what they are so I'm hopeful that that approach to life will serve me well as I regain control over my goal! Thanks for "listening"!

Good luck Cindy. You can plan your calories so that you get something sweet to keep you happy. When I lower my sugar intake I feel that I, after awhile, get better at enjoying it in smaller quantities.

or you can start eating the food you love in small portions.

Intermittent fasting helps you and improves your ability to control your desire to eat food and sweets all the time. Especially with a low carb diet. Good luck👍😊

I understand that struggle. Sugar and carbs have always been the battle for me too. We can do it. We'll make it! Cheers! 🥂

Can you have natural sugars? When I crave sweets I have a little piece of fruit. it satisfies. when I want to munch chips etc I eat carrot slices. ect. I got use to black coffe quickly.🌺

As you are figuring out what works for you, track your information. Track what is important to you to 'know' about. For example sugar -- how often, how much how did you feel etc. I find sugar begets more sugar and suddenly I am eating all the sugar in sight. For me, I have to cut it out as much as possible and try for honey as it seems not to spike me as badly. When you track the information then you can prove to yourself what you believe is true and it is easier to act upon it.

SWEREVE is a newer player in the artificial sugar market. I am one who has never used them because I couldn’t find one without the aftertaste. Swerve is very acceptable, and what’s more important is that I can successfully bake with it . ALLULOSE just came out and it is suppose to be the ultimate fake sugar. I haven’t tasted it yet and have not seen it anywhere besides on Amazon, but right now it is just too expensive.

Cindy, so happy you have decided to join us in the journey. This has to be a life long commitment. Sugar was a problem for me in the past. You must develop strategies that will work for you. I must have my morning coffee, but without sugar. I avoid artificial and regular sugar. Seems to work. Enjoy a sweet treat once in awhile, but do it away from home. Keep the sweets out of the house. Develop a love of whole grain carbs. They are your friends. And finally, avoid processed and deep fried. Reward yourself with non-food items and allow for ONE cheat meal on occasion. Anyway, that's what works for me. You may need to do something totally different. We are all here to support you. This is a long-term commitment, not a race. 💚
