"He's the loser who keeps on losing".

That's what a friend said about me yesterday. :)

I gotta say I'm amazed that weight STILL is coming off, and this fast. I dropped another lb since yesterday, so I am now 5.6 kgs (that's 12.3 lbs!) since Sunday morning. I can't believe I have this much water in my body.

I still see that there is PLENTY of water left. I feel that I have quite a bit in my inner thighs, and quite some around my waist and other places. Let's just hope that it keeps coming off.

Today is day 6 without sugar. It's getting easier and easier. I don't really feel that urge for sweets, and my stomach hurting from the sugar free candy I had Wednesday put me off that for a while.

I'm trying to get more into the fruits, or simply skipping. A coworker brought some HUGE cucumbers from his garden, and dropped them off at work for everyone to take home. I got a bunch, and I have been eating one every day as snacks. I typically go through half a cucumber in the morning at work (or home), a thick slice at a time. It makes it okay for me to eat something, and there are virtually no calories involved. Nice.

Yesterday went really well on the eating.

I had my scheduled breakfast, lunch and dinner, my cucumber and nothing else. NO sugar. I had my water as planned. I drink water every hour on the hour - about 1½ cup - to get the fluids out. It seems to work like a charm, but it's a LOT of water (and many potty breaks).

According to Wife, she made some of her best cakes at work yesterday. I had NO trouble staying away from them. I gotta say I am proud that I was able to, as this is one of the bigger pit falls for me. I think that the fact that I had already had 4 days with no sugar made it easy. Once I got that far it's a good argument to myself that there is no need to "ruin it" by having cake, and having to start over. It's simply not worth it.

I think we should all be thinking that more times when we're in trouble with foods we know we shouldn't be eating. They're really not worth it.

Seeing how life is at 75-80 kgs instead of 150-155 kgs, I can definitely vouch for that. It's simply not worth it. Sure, the sugar (or whatever your demon is) will give us a kick, and it feels great in the moment, but there is NO way that it's satisfying in any way compared to being at a healthy weight.

Sure, I whine about being over 80 kgs. And rightfully so. I know I can have an even more optimal weight. I know I can feel better, once I am there and I have recovered from surgery. But of course, compared to how things used to be, this is a pure luxury problem.

My only thing is that if it suddenly is okay to be heavier than 77, then suddenly it is okay to be heavier than 80. Then it'll be okay to be heavier than 85, and on it goes. Before I know it, it'll be okay to be heavier than 100. This can not happen.

So, as happy as I am being at 83.4 kgs today, I am NOT happy to be heavier than 80. I am not happy being heavier than 77.

Of course I understand that I won't reach 77 just now. Healing takes time and it's a huge factor in my weight issues. But I can try to help it on the way, and so far it's working. I'm amazed that it's worked WITHIN ONE WEEK!

Today, I am beat. Truly beat. I am tired, sleepy, and don't have a whole lot of pizzaz (not pizzas! LOL).

I have decided to work from home today. I have a bunch of stuff I can catch up on, and just take it easy. So I will do that. I love the fact that I can work from home if I want/need to.

I will simply take it easy, read my stuff and leave it at that. Wife and I will go to a little restaurant and have a salad for lunch today. I'm looking forward to it.

Of course, I will be practicing a little bass too. I am working on building a setlist for BURN/Burnin' Live, so we have more to rehearse and more to eventually play. The idea is to form a live band, and a good set list is important. So I have done a draft, and we are slowly tweaking it. Then afterwards we'll learn the songs that we don't already know.

Speaking of music, The Black Peanut is playing live tomorrow night. Another good reason to take it easy today. I need to build some energy for tomorrow.

When we played at the wedding last Wednesday, I downed a heavy-duty energy drink just before we went on stage. It kept me going the whole show, and I am tempted to do it again tomorrow. There is an issue, though. SUGAR! I REALLY don't want it. I'm not sure how to do better than that, and still get the energy. Maybe I should just down a whole pot of coffee? ...and make sure to go pee during the break. :) Any thoughts? What's a good energy booster without sugar?

Before we go set up gear tomorrow, I'll be shopping with Wife, and we'll go to our usual buffet for lunch. I will make sure to eat plenty of protein, to give me some power for the day. I will, however also make sure to keep my calories at a reasonable level. I don't want it to become a full blast indulgence day. I don't think I need one to keep my weight loss going right now. I just want to eat right and do good. Then, maybe, next week I will consider an indulgence day. I might go over a few hundred calories, but no more than that.

Today I am thankful for:
- A GREAT night's sleep. I don't think I woke up once all night.
- Morning coffee.
- Weekend coming up!
- Good music on the radio this morning.

Have a fantastic weekend! You know my journals will be short Saturday and Sunday. However, LIFE IS GOOD!

PS: JP, did you finish your cereal yet? :)

SO glad you are taking a down day from work to gear up your energy for The Black Peanut show! It's all about balance!

a bowl of oats with a spoon of peanut butter keeps me going for hours. I look forward to reading your adventures every day. Enjoy your weekend.

I second the peanut butter emotion. It's an incomplete protein, though, so be sure to have either some kind of animal product (dairy or an egg for example) or another incomplete protein to complement it...the oats would do it, or bread :)

What the hell does that mean, incomplete protein? I need to look that up. Anyway Keld, enjoy your day. I think I ate the sugars for you yesterday, cuz I did pretty lousy myself. I love cucumbers too, but they are pretty crappy here in the dessert. I will ask my shopping personnel (wife) to check on them! lol

Wow, read about incomplete proteins at this site. http://rense.com/general88/pbj.htm interesting read, although I would categorize it as "entertainment". Some people get nuts about their foods.

....I think RED BULL does a Diet version of their energy drink. As I don't really drink coffee any more, it works a treat for me in combination with a piece of 855 dark chocolate & some nuts & raisans. Hope you have a great weekend :)

lol, schmetterling. I can't go with yours, sorry. First off, there is sugar in even dark chocolate. Chocolate is my demon, and once I start I don't stop. Not a chance I'm going there. Also, I absolutely hate the taste of Redbull. lol. I will work it out, though. If nothing else, I'll have to sleep all evening, and simply be rested. :)

I think a bowl of porridge is the best option..... Well done on the water drinking..... - if you have porridge.... Maybe you could take a bottle of water with a bit of sugar in, "just in case" you run out of steam - or a high energy bar (keeping it in case you feel your energy waining) ...one that doesn't have so much sugar in it :-)

Definitely go with the oats, you need the slow burn, not the rush :) Have fun.

Well, since amino acids are what fuel our bodies, I wouldn't necessarily say it's "nuts" to consider their sources...

http://www.energyfiend.com/sugar-free-energy-drink-chart Sugar free energy options. IF they're available in your area. Hope your Friday went well and your Saturday is smashing! Rock On!!!!

B vitamins are a good energy booster. B12 I think in particular. Some energy drinks use primarily B vitamins and not caffiene as the energy ingredient. You have to take a high dose of them though. No worries - they are water soluble. Your body can get rid of the excess, so no risk of ODing on B vitamins.

My daughter loves cucumbers to pack with her lunch...or red peppers. She takes them whole, and then breaks the cuke in half and just munches away! The red pepper she eats like an apple. :) Glad she is packing this for a snack instead of some highly processed food. Good habits to build when she is young.
