Iwantdoughnuts's Journal, 28 April 2018

I started cooking for my health and workout in November, 2017. I do workout, which is kinda intense for me, 3~4 times a week and take a dance class 3 times a week.
It’s been almost half an year since the beginning and
•my body hasn’t got leaner even a bit
•I haven’t lost even a pound

Well my goal is getting a fit body so the second one doesn’t really matter, but I always feel like
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ wtf

Go to different sites and look at how many calories that you should eat in one day, this site is quite high. You could try to lower your calories by a couple of hundred per day. You might not lose quickly but you should lose and it won't be so hard on you. I think that cutting out the sugar is also good and that would be any sugar not coming from fresh fruits of vegetables or at least keep it at a minimum. Just a suggestion!

This is me! It’s very frustrating to work very hard in the gym and eat right and not see a difference for MONTHS. I am going on 5-6 months. My friends around me are smaller and spend their time eating sweets and processed food. While I pack my meals daily with boiled eggs, salads, raw veggies. And hit the gym 5x week doing heavy lifting! Just recently started a calorie deficit as a last hope to shed the 5-10 lbs I desire to lose. So far, no results :(

I am going to stop taking my birth control pill this month to see if it helps at all. Are you on any form of birth control, if so, do you think it may play a role in inability to lose weight?

>Charlotte_15 Yeah, actually I’ve always thought “wait can I eat this amount of calorie while I’m on ‘diet’ ???”. I’ll try some other apps or websites to compare with this… Thanks for your suggestion!

>AprilLifts I’m so glad there is somebody who finds my issue relatable 😢And yeah, I want to lose just 5-10 lb too, which is not a huuuuuge change, but even that hasn’t happened so far… I know it’s so frustrating. I’m not taking any birth control pills so I can’t answer to your question, sorry!

Well this is my experience. Everyone is different. I have lost weight since last May and it is not recorded on this site. Some weight I gained quickly and I was able to lose it quickly. My last 10 pounds however I never thought that I would lose it, it just happened sort of. I do intermittent fasting when I lose however I have stopped now because I don't want to lose more. It doesn't work for everyone and some people don't feel well doing it. During the winter I was out snowshoeing for one hour and walking one hour most days and this made a huge difference. Walking 4 miles per hour and at least being a little out of breath I feel is very important. If I don't walk a little fast I can walk all day and not lose a pound. Weight training is very good and beneficial but the way I think is that it has to be exercises that you know you will do for the rest of your life. Having the muscle that you want is good but losing it is terrible and that happens when you stop exercising. Finding the right food or calories that you should eat in a day can be really good. In my case I eat over 1400 calories per day and I can stay at my weight, I am 5 feet 1 and 1/2 inch. April, when I took the pill I always gained 5 pounds. I would lose it when I stopped. That's my experience with it. I assume that you are much taller than I am and it could be that you will lose the 10 pounds. You just have to remember that there is a reason that you take it.

You have probably added muscle and lost fat. How are your clothes fitting? The number on the scale is just a number.

Charlotte's, Talking right on the money..also what I've been told and learned for myself is the body adapts to the same weight routine and nothing seems to change so around 90days it's best to shock your metabolism/ muscle groups by radically changing your W/O routine...it works.

The best thing I did was to get a Fitbit and literally track how many calories I am burning. That way I know how much to eat in a day. Now there are many ways to track actual calories burned. Before the Fitbit I tracked all my calories and then kept cutting it 100 or 200 off the average every month until I hit a number where I started losing steadily.

All great advice here - just don't give up until you modify so it works. Exercise makes us feel better but the nutrition plan is how we drop weight. Check the calories and food quality.
