RoseFlorida's Journal, 03 July 2012

Went shopping today at Target (no surprise I like to walk around that store way too much) and found that the coconut oil I was buying somewhere else for 10 bucks a jar was on clearance for 6.70 a jar. I picked up a few of them. I ordered the unrefined kind on amazon - less than 10 dollars each vs 20 each in my local store - and should have them on Thursday but the refined kind works too. I can always use it as a moisturizer. I've put it on some old scars and they are starting to fade and my bug bites are healing quicker. Gotta love the coconut oil. Also went to the oriental store and picked up coconut flakes (unsweetened) and made coconut manna. Much cheaper than buying it online since no local store has it (that I can find)

Love finding great bargains. I never stock up though. Dunno why. On another note, coconut oil IS awesome for softer skin and getting rid of unsightly stretch marks. You can never have too much.

How do you make the coconut manna? I'm not able to find it locally either.

The coconut manna is just powered or flaked unsweetened coconut that you put in the food processor for 10 minutes, scrape the sides down and then finish for another 2 or 3 minutes. Just bottle or plastic it up and no refrigeration needed. You can add coconut oil if you want but you don't have to. It takes a long while for the coconut to change into coconut butter (the other name for it) Some people add vanilla flavored stevia and chocolate powder to make it even better. The coconut is high fiber, low (not no carb) carb. Thankfully that I can find at a reasonable price at a local store.

Thank you - sounds really good right now. Especially with the chocolate! I'll have to pick up some flaked coconut next time I'm at the store.
