Thinking about trying keto again I gave it up in the past because I've missed eating things like breakfast cereal but I think I saw more results on keto but is that something for long term success? What do you guys think?

Keto is viable as a way of eating, more than a diet, is my impression. There are keto versions of breakfast cereal, too. I'm generally not creating keto versions of my old favorites, with few exceptions, but for some people that's a very helpful approach. Depends what you want. So many ways of doing keto, or LCHF, or whatever works for you!

I love that I made the switch to keto! I feel better, my brain works right, and I can eat real foods in real amounts as my body regulates my weight back to where it belongs. Keto is *not* a diet that you go on, lose weight, and go off...it is a permanent change in lifestyle. My hair and skin are healthier, my energy is fantastic, and my emotions are better regulated. I cannot recommend enough Gary Taubes book "How We Got Fat"...it's a dense read, but a great resource.

So far, I've seen a Keto version that would satisfy almost every craving one could have. Pinterest and diet doctor dot com are great resources to search for ideas. Keto has literally saved my life and I can and will eat this way for the rest of my days. I don't crave the things I used to when I lived off of carbs. But I have been able to incorporate some of my favorite foods like pizza, pasta and potato salads with easy Keto recipe (substitutes) like cauliflower mock potato salad, grain free low carb pizza crusts and shiritaki noodles or zucchini noodles for pasta. As you keep eating any new food plan, your tastes and cravings will change. Those who crave ice cream now even have low carb options for that. I would highly recommend Keto. But it all comes down to what works best for you, your body and your lifestyle. I truly believe it has to be more than just a diet. It has to be a whole new outlook and way of life in order to succeed long term. Best of luck to you on your journey! 😊

I'm actually 4 days in and I feel much better than I thought I would. I've been so paranoid to face the dreaded "keto flu" my overall philosophy is if it works then go with it. If you saw better results with keto before then why not give it another shot? good luck!

Love my No-grain, "Wheat Belly" way of eating -since March. Feel great. Almost zero cravings. Once you decide to do it(which ever plan it is), throw everything out that doesn't fit your new way of eating. Leaving any food around that doesn't fit is self sabotage. Give it to a friend, family in need or take it to the office. Then fill your cupboards, fridge and freezer with all your new ingredients. Read and learn the other people's highs and lows on the plan you choose. I agree above, get recipes, substitutions etc, before you start. I have found it's what I make work vs what What I decide will work and then make new plans around those "new guidelines." I found a group on facebook to read about other's experiences and ask questions. Great support that helps keep me going , especially when i am trying to figure out the compliant thing to eat. Plan ahead for success.

Everybody is different, When I first started I felt terrible. I though I can't do this. but, I stuck with it. Is it easy? No But, as others have said it gets better the more you do it. Get serious with finding substitutes - I have ket bread, pound cake, chia jam for dessert, cauliflower rice and more. The verdict: 54 pounds lighter and yes some days are harder than others but worth it so far

I can't do low carb, high fat. I watch calories and try to keep fat low, preferably no more than 40 grams. I do watch carbs, 30-40 grams max at each meal and snack (I snack on fruit often). For me keeping calories well under my maximum has been working. I also do intermittent fasting, so I don't eat after 2 or 3pm. Sometimes I'll have a cup of tea if I am feeling hungry. But I've noticed most people on this site seem to do low carb/high fat as their favorite choice.

I am back on keto as of 5 days ago. The only think I truly crave is tortilla chips, LOVE THEM, but I can do without given the great results I have with LCHF. It's not for everyone, but it works for me! I'm a cheese, nut, and meat -oholic, and I love eggs. I found that if I use my mandolin to slice up jicama real thin, I can pretend they are chips, and use them to eat copious amounts of guacamole. You can do this!!

imLaura, have you tried "cheese" crackers instead of tortilla chips? Thin circle of cheese in a non stick pan over medium heat til the cheese browns, then use like any cracker, or make a bigger circle and gently fold for a taco shell!

Yes, Anonymous! They are awesome and I had totally forgotten about them. Thanks. Think they'll be on the menu this weekend. :)

Like many commenting so far, I'm a total keto convert. It has changed my life for the SO MUCH better. I really don't consider myself to be on as diet as much as I consider that I've learned a better way to go about living. I just LOVE food now. I go to sleep thinking about all the great things I got to eat and try that day. I wake up excited to try new things and have old favorites. It's such a stark contrast to when I was eating high carb. I literally hated food. I hated eating. If you just look around on the net, there are tons and tons of keto-fied recipes out there! If you're leary about trying them, just try and find the ones that are highly rated or that have a lot of positive comments.

Absolutely, I love it. You can always carb up a weekend a month if you need to. I do that. I don't get crazy with calories or volume but I eat the things I miss. I usually bloat up and am happy to get back to keto. I also lose any water weight I gained plus a pound or two of fat within a few days of being back on keto. I love keto because Im never hungry and it stops the cravings so losing weight is easy.
