Damselfly's Journal, 02 March 2010

I work nights and generally have my banana around 0045 because I am seriously hungry then. I eat my next meal at 0300. In between, I had some crackers. I brought the box so at least I had something healthy to choose. Normally I only bring a serving. I have been drinking my water, but this has been a challenging day. I found I wanted to eat when I was not hungry and then absolutely starving later. My goal is to have this meal tide me over until the afternoon. I usually arrive home at 0815, take my supplements and then head to sleep. (I piddle.) I wake at 1530 run errands and then head to the gym. Dinner around 1800. That's way too long between meals. New plan...

A banana is a great choice, but adding some protein will help with the hunger. Maybe add some string cheese or container of yogurt to help with the hunger. You are doing great.

Woke up before my rest period was over and decided to head to the gym before collecting DA and her mom. Since I only had an hour I felt pressured to stay on task, even more. Since I am focusing on strengthening my lower body I decided to raise the incline on the treadmill and work more intently there. I had two muffins and a bit of water before my workout and carried a banana with me for after, while I ran errands. That helped. I always have nuts in the car, but prefer the almonds and leave the cashews for DA. Decided to eat them myself today. She didn't mind. Water, water, water. 750 ml in the car. I have been taking Progresso soups with me to work, both because its easy and inexpensive. Not that I order food anyway, but my co-workers do, regularly (as in three of five nights). I wait until their food arrives and then warm my soup to eat. I cook as well, but like the convenience of grabbing a can on the way out. Today I picked up Campbell's Select Harvest. Ten calories and half the fiber, evident in the taste. Its a light bisque, not at all hearty. Paired it with my Kashi crackers. Yuck! Fancy names do not hide the salty crunchy grain bake they are selling. I am all about fiber and can abide some pretty rough roughage, but this was a push (down into the soup). All done. Tummy full. I'm headed back to bed to read and rest before I am off to work tonight. DA was sick today at daycare and must stay out tomorrow, so I will not be able to sleep long. She is a great napper and just plain fun to boot! By the way, I hate yogurt, so does DA. We have tried lots of variety and actually have some in the frig now. I have raw nuts in the freezer; maybe we will roast them tomorrow. yum...
