I absolutely love cheese. I could eat it everyday. But when I eat it my stomach hurts all day and into the night. Today I did things different and only had a small amount on my eggs this morning and that was it. Unfortunately I have come to the realization that I can't have cheese. I have the same problem with milk too. This disappoints me but I guess it's time to say goodbye to the cheese just like I did milk.

this happened to me..I never had any issues with dairy my whole life. Then I did/ doing low carb and cut out milk, ect. Now if I try and add it back in, my stomach feels like Bruce Lee kicked me into Chuck Norris... Dr says it could be that my body no longer produced the enzymes needed.. Hence.. the worst gas pains ever... MEH.. I just have my cheese and dairy here and there and in super small amounts so I dont die .. LOL

Sounds like lactose intolerance. Ever tried yogurt cheese? While it does contains dairy, it is made with live yogurt cultures that remove the milk sugars during the cheese making process (and that is what give LI people issues). I have never had it myself, but those who have tell me the texture and flavor is the close to regular cheese and it melts fairly well. No idea of the price however.

Oh I will have to check that out. Yeah I have figured out that is what it is. I mean the pain is so bad I can't hardly work. Or either I'm constantly running to the bathroom.

If you're getting bloated and gassy and cramping after eating cheese, it could be lactose intolerance. Try getting a trial size box of lactase enzyme tablets and take 2 before you eat dairy products. If it helps, it's the lactose. Use them before you eat dairy products and you will not get bloated. If it doesn't, at least you didn't waste money on a big box of pills that don't work for you.

Oh, no. There should be greeting cards for this kind of loss. Lactase doesn't work for everyone, and doesn't address all aspects of dairy that can cause problems. Curious about yougurt cheese now.

You might consider trying sheep or goat's milk cheese. See if you body digests those easier. Also think about digestive enzymes in the store. Get a good brand like the ones at the health food store. Lactase, protease, lipase etc. They all break down different types of foods.
