No gain! Wahoo! I made my birthday cake again because the pumpkin cheesecake with Truvia = NASTY. Never again. Instead I baked a no flour dark chocolate cake and it was so rich I couldn't even eat a whole slice. Now, with the whole fiasco with the cheesecake in mind I wasn't about to mess with chocolate cake after a great dinner so I did use regular sugar. It was perfect. Not something I'll do normally, but this was so worth it.
I did end up leaving work early to get the kid (3 checkmarks before noon... somebody was in trouble.) It was nice to get home and relax a while, then I did some deep cleaning of the bathroom. I pulled some things off of the top of the cabinet and set them on top of the light fixture, then promptly forgot them. One of them being a candle, directly over the light bulb.
I'd finished cleaning the whole place and went to get the broom, got distracted, and when I walked back in later I couldn't understand this bright red gellatinous mess until I looked up and did the forehead slap! Of course gram and the kid laughed long and hard, then stood watching me wield the razor blade. *rolls eyes* blonde moments are inescapable.
Oh I got myself a new cookbook! Its called the Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook (2nd edition) and I'm so excited about it. Lots of great information and I can't wait to try some of the recipes. Nothing with gluten in the book, plus substitutions to lower carbs or dairy, etc. So cool I might even start back to my menu/grocery planning.
Once I'd read a few chapters I went to get ready for bed and set out our clothes for this morning. As I was looking through my closet, I decided to try on one of my next size down dresses. The first one was still too tight, but the other 4 that I tried on fit perfectly!! Its too cold to wear one today but Sunday.... yeah buddy.
It looks like somebody got the memo it was my birthday - walked in this morning to find a bouquet of flowers and a card from everyone at work on my desk. A day late is better than nothing right? And they smell so perty! Glad they didn't buy me a cake haha.
Nothing fancy planned today, just going to relax for a bit. My bestie is supposed to stop by with my present late, but otherwise I'm free as a bird. Maybe I'll do some sewing. Other than that I'm going to act like the old lady I am and probably hit the sack early. Gotta love it!
