WOW! I could write a book this morning...will try not to do that! LOL! Mom's appt ended up today. So we will be going in a little while. She is still itchy, and scratching and making the problem worse, and sending my blood pressure thru the ceiling!!!! Let's hope for progress today!

My son and husband leave tomorrow for PA. He's excited to be interviewing for the Honors College - and also was notified he is a FINALIST in the National Merit Scholarship program!!! (he was notified of being a semi-finalist back in Sept - and was in the local paper!) Now we wait some more to see if this materializes into an actual Scholarship.

Geez - Waiting... seems to be my specialty these days!

The friend's son in trouble - well, that's been on my heart and overtaken my attentions.

This is a good family, a loving set of parents - and a kid who has made mistakes. Paid the price for those mistakes, and 'cleaned up his life'... But unbeknownst to me... he has a 'record'. Apparently about 5 years ago he was arrested w/ drugs on him and a gun.

With that, he ended up w/ a 'felony charge' on his record.

He served a short time in jail, put himself in a 3 month program to show the court he was serious about changing his life... got out of that program and remained clean for 5 years. During this time he paid off attorney's, fines, car tickets, etc...has gone without a liscense all of this time, and has fought to work his way back to some kind of 'normal' life. He was 19 when he made this 'mistake' in his life. Now in his mid twenties, and completely unable to find work. No one will actually hire him. And if they do...like his most recent job, they end up doing a background check, and discharge him due to the 'felony' on his record.

Feeling broken, and like a total loser... he turned back to drugs. He is selling - as a way to make money - and he is using as a way to escape his own pain.

METH is a deadly, highly addictive drug. And it is rampant in the US and overtaking thousands of young people every day!

Pls continue to pray for this young man. And for his family. The mom - is working with her local pastor, and the local police - to try to 'find' him - and get him to surrender himself into treatment BEFORE he ends up arrested again, or dead.

This family is like my own family - same age kids, same everything - and she and I are the closest two people could be without being twins! My heart is so unbelieveably heavy - and just spending my time here to write and share this with you is making me feel a bit better. So thank you for your love and support. Thank you for being an outlet and a source of comfort for me! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for lifting this family and their son in prayer!

I will of course keep you posted... Much Love.

That's so sad. My nephew made similar mistakes, and has really had to pay the price, working over night for many years in a retail warehouse and going to college (no financial aid since he was convicted of a drug offense) to prove that he's really cleaned up his act. Sigh. I hope your friend's son will make it back and be able to persist. It's such a hard road.

That sounds like a vicious cycle for your friends son. Hope he can turn it around with help. As for your son, what exciting news! I'll speak it into existence...He will get the scholarship!

Hey Everybody - back from the dr.'s / starting Mom on Predisone Pak tomorrow am. (holding my breath that this doesn't create more problems for her!) But this rash needs to be squelched!!! Youngest son is totally jigged up about going to PA for his interview! Such joy to be 17 and feel like all the hard work is now starting to pay off!!! No news on the other young man today... not sure how that's going. I made it to the gym early - managed to somehow tweek my knee. Got a twinge that's painful depending on how I step... ??? will go easy until that is gone. No need to injure myself - and all food related anything is going fine. Class last night was OUTSTANDING!!! I had them each bring in a topic to teach/share on .. something new they have learned since we started. WOW! These folks are good!! I learned a couple of new things just listening to them. For example, didn't know that water was the primary 'nutrient' to the human body, and that it was needed to carry all other nutrients every where they needed to go. Also didn't know that the reason a body builder looks so cut on the day of competition, is because he lets himself get dehydrated and the skin basically wraps around the muscles. :) who knew?? (not I). Never to old to teach an old dog new tricks! Much Love.

I tried the dehydration thing. Skin wrapped tightly around 60 pounds of fat . . . not a pretty sight! Hope your mom gets some relief; sounded miserable. Too bad about the other boy; sounded like the story might have a happy ending until you mentioned him turning back to drugs. I know it's hard to hear, but the reason they let kids go when they find out they have the record, is usually because they're lacking the character to make the right decisions when the going does get tough. The kid really needs a mentor who has been there; and come out of it. I'll pray the kid gets help before he does something bad.
