Here I am again. I lost a lot of weight back in 2011-2012 using this tool to keep myself accountable and connect with others on this journey toward better health. Unfortunately, I dropped the ball again. The weight crept back on, my knees started to go bad, I moved less, more weight crept back on, and I gained it all back plus a bonus 20 pounds. My last visit to my family doctor revealed perfect bloodwork, and a stern warning that I've gotten about all the mileage I can from my good health genes. So here I am again! I'm trying to keep it realistic this time and establish a sustainable lifestyle. I'm looking forward to getting back into a way of eating that always helps me feel better.

Pacing yourself when running?
I use a podcast called PodRunner, which bases its play lists on BPM. Choose a slower play list for a slower run.

Intense low back pain, and drop off in running performance
Are you planning to run the marathon while being slow carb? I had to rethink my low carb eating while ramping up for a half marathon. I get very achy (especially low back) and fatigued if I don't get the carbs I need for long runs. Bumping up my carbs to about 150 before long runs seems to have done it for me.

Induction trouble...help!
Definitely not enough food, and not enough green vegetables. I'd bump up the calories, cut back on the cheese, and get more veggies in there. Atkins definitely works if you follow it correctly and give it time.
