madaboutmoose's Journal, 20 January 2010

Wednesday has arrived. Yesterday I was confused. I kept thinking it was Monday but I had Monday off. I think I am finally straightened out. I am so easily confused.

I continue to track my weight daily but am not posting it here. I am within my range but still slightly up, most likely from a combination of Saturday's dinner out and then Monday's celebration. I continue to pay attention to my thought process as I weigh each morning, practicing seeing that weigh-in as a "tool" and reducing the meaning it has in and of itself. It is work. I continue to want to avoid the scale and struggle to avoid being impacted by fluctuations. However, when I recall how I reacted to fluctuations a year ago, much progress has been made!

I am tired. The hot flashes at night appear to have subsided, at least temporarily which I am grateful for. Eventually I will catch up on my rest I hope. I've noticed I've been dreaming more, most likely because I am asleep for longer periods of time. I think that is a good sign.

Today is another busy day here at work. I have an 8:30 intake, an 11:30 staff meeting and then a 1:15 intake and a 2:30 regular appointment. No rest for the wicked!! LOL!!!

What is madaboutmoose grateful for today?

1. as aforementioned, the decrease in night time hot flashes
2. my colleagues ...
3. warm blankets on chilly nights
4. homemade soup
5. home being my safe place

Have a productive day!! My thoughts are with you all even if I don't get much time to comment on your journals!! Take care!!

I'm glad the hot flashes are gone for now, you deserve some rest! when my mom had a very bad time with hot flashes I gave her Angelicae Sinensis (this is the latin name, I don't know the english one) it's a chinese plant and it worked really well with her. she had tried soy isoflavon and some other things, but this one did the job. have a great day!

From mayoclinic dot com: "Dong quai (Angelica sinensis ), also known as Chinese Angelica, has been used for thousands of years in traditional Chinese, Korean, and Japanese medicine. It remains one of the most popular plants in Chinese medicine, and is used primarily for health conditions in women. Dong quai has been called "female ginseng" Interesting! Glad your power surges are taking a rest!

I like the thoughts about home - my home is becoming more mine everyday, and I am grateful for it too.

Thanks Amryk for the info! I knew the name Don Quai but I didn't think it was used in english!

Days off, holidays and such always throw me off kilter, and I also think it's another day! Sounds like you had a busy day at work. Hope you got to relax at home afterwards!

Moose i think you have made great progress with your reaction to the scale even compared with when I first came back on in November. I love that you work on that. It inspires me to change the way I think about the NUMBER too. Dreaming = more sleep = happier days. Good things.

the daily weigh-ins are new for me and a difficult transition. The fluctuations really can be discouraging and elating for all the wrong reasons. I hope to be as calm about it as you are now, Moose.
