OKay so Today is day one, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 2 weeks ago and have been half way doing what I should, but now I have to get focused and do what I know I need to do. Each morning I'm gonna post my sugar levels on here along with an unofficial weigh in, hoping that will keep me motivated. This morning I did good and skipped the cheese grits that had become a work morning staple for me and switched to eggs. I have a short day today and plan to go home and fix my meals for the next few days. I work 12 hour days 3 days a week so on those days i will need to plan out my meals and make sure I take things with me that I can eat, cause no matter what people say even hospital food is good when you arent the one having to cook it :-) Would love to have a few buddies on here so anyone who wants daily support and encouragment please say hi :-)

I think posting your daily fasting BS is a great idea. It helps with weight loss as well. I need to remember to do that as well. Good luck to you.

I have type 2 diab as well. I found one key is to eat smaller meals. I eat pretty much what I want but I watch serving size and total amt. The diabetic body can't handle a bunch of calories all at one time. Also, if I go over a little at one meal, i eat less at next and try to move around more.

make sure you have protein with each thing you eat. Try having 6 small meals. lots of water and extra protein will help you feel fuller later in the day good luck tonight

I do low carb, within a few weeks I had normal blood sugar after fighting it for 3 yrs, 2 1/2 months later I was off (by mouth) metformin. I began my weight loss journey May 2010, lost quite a bit, but was still diabetic. Then Feb 2011 I began low carbing. I am half way to my goal and my dr visits are 1x yearly now. I agree, protein with each thing you eat really keeps blood sugar in check and keeps the hunger away. You are on your way. Happy Healthy Weight Loss! :)
