I have to get a snack kit together. I could just make a rule, no snacking. But I have to be realistic. Sometimes I just want something. Probably just a bad habit and it's the "lizard brain" that wants to snack. But if I am not prepared and lizard brain wins out then I end up eating chips like I did last night.

At my house there is no junk but at my BF's house there is junk galore and things I don't keep at my house on purpose like peanut butter.

I have macadamia nuts at his house. I didn't want those. I wasn't even hungry anyway. I was just giving in to bad habit. I always regret it too, so it's annoying that I keep allowing the lizard brain to win out.

I purchased the stuff I need for making fat bombs on Amazon and I'm just waiting for that. I have some paleo bars, mac nuts, pumpkin seeds.

Then there is JUST SAY NO route. Simplest solution of all and all this aggravation just goes away. I got to try harder. How bad do I want 289? How much are you willing to work for it? It just won't happen by luck - it's hard work. I am putting in the time at the gym and exercising but I need to add in the self-control.

I can do it!!

Ugh, I feel your pain! When that urge hits, I need something. That's why I spent a half hour last night dividing a giant bag of raw almonds into 1 oz baggies... Because I can't handle a giant open bag, lol

I don't know if that is a good or bad idea. I have recently done that but what I used to do when I was living alone was when I went out shopping I would just buy what I needed to eat for the next few days, until I went shopping again. This was because my biggest issue with losing the weight was my snacking. So this forced me to cut out the snacks. Now I am living with a woman who is overweight also and she shops for "when we have company" or buys more than we need to "save money." This has led me to having a much more difficult time at losing weight. She goes to Weight Watchers and has much greater will power than I do so this is OK for her but it is killing me.

I hear you both. I had the option of using the new almond butter that I bought but I guess I wasn't sure I would like it so I used the peanut butter instead. The almond butter had no added sugar and was raw and pure. I really believe all of this is a process so we have to be patient with ourselves as we keep trying. I made so many changes in the last 3 months - it is really hard to leave every single bad habit behind in such a short amount of time. If we look at our success vs "failures" I think the idea is to make the number of successes greater and time between "failures" less!

For me and my wife, we've found it really helpful to eat 3 small meals and 2 low calorie snacks. We try to keep the snacks around 100-130 calories or less. We basically are eating either a meal or snack about every 3 hours. We hardly ever get hungry and when we do, it's not that i'm gonna eat everything in sight hungry. It really helps. Doing this in 2 1/2 months I've lost at least 17 lbs, and my wife has lost 7 lbs. We also try to keep our daily calorie count between 1500-1600 which means around 400 calories for each meal, 100 per snack with some extra calories to play around with. For our snacks, we usually eat some fruit, veggies, yogurt, oatmeal bars, mini box of cereal without milk, outshine bars, etc. Hope this helps

My hardest time for this mindless snacking is evening. I just started going to the gym in the evenings. Hopefully I will be tired when I get home, shower, and go to bed. I don't know why it's so hard for me to just say no, especially when it doesn't have anything to do with hunger....

I know, it's the lizard brain doing the talking. That part of our brain that remembers things we have done for years and prods us to do it some more. I have these problems when I am watching hockey or football, or I'm bored, tired..it's the old "binge voice". I agree, I am never hungry when this is going on.

2 protein shakes in between meals always helps that's what my trainer & I always did especially when I'm training regarding body building. Also almonds talk about fill you up quick but unsalted and only a few not a bag 😉 it's all about forming a disciplined habit tough but possible !! You can do it !! Also I found a new spread at Vitamin Shoppe that's a healthier snack choice called Fluffbutter in several flavors and doesn't hurt the wallet

I have that experience as well. The binge voice has nothing to do with hunger. It has finally shut up the past couple days - - probably because I was at work and my mind was 100% occupied with non food stuff.

Sports on TV at night is a killer. Cubbies in the playoffs! Watching from bed since I never eat in bed. So far so good.
