Welcome to Wednesday fellow travellers!!

My head is spinning a bit. Very busy day yesterday, another one today, and hubby not feeling well this morning but went to work anyway because he has so much to do.

It is strange, having such a high fat content on my food diaries. I have spent the last few years eating low-fat so seeing these higher numbers on my food diaries feels strange and slightly worrisome. Calories may not be exact ... as I am guesstimating on some items, such as the spaghetti meat sauce I made. I didn't calculate the calories myself so I could be "over" or "under" what it actually contains. Yesterday I had 100% of my RDI, something I have rarely done and wouldn't you know it ... scale was down to 207.2 this morning, the same number it was last Thursday ... before my little trip to see my friend and the Sunday popcorn extravaganza.

The plan is simply to carry on ... stick with it long enough to know if it works for my body or not ... and stay focused on being kind to myself in the process. I am, for the most part, less hungry between meals. I easy go from breakfast (at about 5:15 am) to lunch (between 11:30 and 12:30). I am usually hungry by dinner time. I have had an occasional bite of protein BEFORE dinner ... but other than that I've been pretty faithful with no snacking. Dr. Kruse recommends dinner 4-5 hours BEFORE bedtime and that one is tough to pull off. I don't get home until 4:30 or later and we are usually in bed by 8:30/9 pm ... so that is nearly impossible.

Today marks day 3 of Dr. Kruse's plan to reboot leptin sensitivity. Breakfast was chorizo and eggs, lunch is spaghetti squash and homemade meat sauce and I believe dinner will be BBQ hamburger patties.

Enough about food.

I have yet to get back to a regular schedule with my goals. I need to. That needs to be a regular part of my life, a routine. It seems to make such a difference for me when I am actively thinking about what I want, focused on positive affirmations, visualizing goals. I'll get there ... and in the process I truly need to remember to BE KIND to myself and not use this as another opportunity for self-flagellation!!!

Because ... I like myself! I love my body!! I take care of myself. I am kind to myself. I weigh 180 lbs. I am an expert in my field and people pay me for my expertise. I am organized and efficient. I plan well and carry through with my plans. I am financially responsible. I manage our finances well. I believe in myself. I am persistent. I am capable. I listen to what my body needs nutritionally and my body easily sheds excess pounds and fat. Our wood shed is full. Our dental needs are met. We have money saved for a February 2012 vacation to Mexico. I am patient. I am determined. I am healthy and happy. I handle strong emotions and conflict calmly. I embrace change.

Today something wonderful will happen to me. I have many blessings in my life and much to be grateful for.

1. An appointment to get my hair trimmed and highlights freshened up on Friday!!

2. Great buddies who make me feel special.

3. A marriage where MOST of the time ... I feel supported, loved, accepted, and content.

4. How quiet the office is this early in the morning!!!

5. The joy my work often brings to my heart.

Another day of practicing kindness towards myself. Another day staying mindful of what is GOOD in my life and what I WANT rather than on what I do not currently appear to have. Another day of reminding myself that life is process ... not product and that I will never be "done." Another day of enjoying the journey ... and being ever grateful of the fine company I have along the way!!

Take care of yourselves today. Remember ... we cannot change what we do not own. Embrace who you are (I am ever in the process of working on embracing myself!!)

Carol, good morning, my lovely 50 something friend!! I have the hardest time with popcorn...I won't eat the microwaved kind for the most part, but man do I love me some home popped with butter and salt. I can't make it because I will eat the whole darned bowl! Have a wonderful, beautiful day!! You are doing amazing!

Oh, and I have a recipe for spaghetti sauce in my cookbook if you would like to use it for your food diary entry...it is pretty standard and all the ingredients are listed.

Hi Carol, thanks for reaching out. I hope your 'experiment' with food gives you joy and success. I have read your last few posts and sorry I wasn't on here cheering you on. Self love, self acceptance - tall orders hun, but I have faith in you. Wish I could say the same for me. Self forgiveness would be nice too. I'm reading lots of Martha Beck, Byron Katie, Oprah lifeclass - lots of inspiration and info - my old head is spinning. I liked your comment about your husband snoring - a tangible reminder that he is there. My husband sleeps with a CPAP machine and I too like that 'white noise' cause I know he is there beside me and as safe as I can make him. Much love yo you Carol.
