I would stick with the 1700 or even 1500. Personally, I don't add calories b/c I exercise - I mean if I burn 200 calories exercising and add 200 calories to my meal plan, that means its a wash and what was the purpose of the exercise. 2200 is too high IMO. The RDI recommendations on this site are high as are the estimated calories burned. You need to google "BMR or RMR" or Miffelin equation to get your resting metabolic rate - the number of calories burned at rest. Then you can figure out how much you are burning my moving around during the day - then you would want to eat 500-1000 calories less than you are burning to lose 1-2 lbs. per week. Obviously, everything is an estimate.

If your using a calorie calculator, you need to use it as a guideline. If you lose eating 1700 a day, then do that. If you lose better at 1500 a day, then do that. You have to adjust to what is best for you. As you lose, you need to cut calories to keep losing.

Well I am not losing so I will try 1500 calories and try to stick to that. I did not keep track of my food or exercise this weekend. Will start again Monday with my new calorie count and take it from there. Thank you for your help,I really need it. No one is exercising or dieting in my family just me and it gets harder each time and just try to start over again. This is my only support fatsecret.

Hi Teyla, If you take your weight ans times it by 15. That is how many calories it would take to maintain you current weight. I would start by lowering it 500 calories and keep exercising!! Weigh yourself once a week. If you notice after a few weeks your weight loss slows down drop another 500. I wouldn't dramatically drop calorie right away. This would explain why when you exercise right now you are tired and cant eat enough. You're starving yourself. You have to eat to lose, just eat the right stuff. Remember to try and spread your calories out into 6 meals. And always always always eat an hour or two before your workout. Nothing too heavy. Maybe some protein and a piece of fruit. ( A Snack ) Also, i know what you mean about being on track and then the weekend comes and you splurge but this will not get you to where you want to be. It will even push you back to where you started your week off or worse add weight. Try to have one normal cheat meal on an exercise day. This will jump start your metabolism. But not a cheat DAY or DAYS. This will add weight. And remember if you fall off don't starve yourself the next day. Go back to eating your small meals throughout the day. Sorry I got on a tangent and couldn't stop LOL Hope is helps!! You can do it!!

Nobody in my family is exercising either. It's only me. I exercised for a half hour on Monday. Did some jogging until I couldn't feel my legs anymore. Tuesday I had somewhere to go and got back to late to go to gym. Yesterday I did 35 minutes of cardio and 6 set of 10 workout for my arms and chest. I am not jumping on the scale to the end of this weekend or maybe I will just wait to the end of this month to way in because in the past I have never seen a drop in the scale and it just disappoints me to the point that I start eating again. I CURSE THE SCALE lol
