Some people are naturally more hungry than others. I truly believe that. I've always felt more hunger. I'm usually able to reduce it by reducing carbs. BUT.. Hormone imbalances are a nighttime! My whole life,  up and down,  up and down.  Hungry all the time.  After surgical menopause I was finally free until the last 4 days.  I just thought I was being WEAK. I WAS HUNGRY every minute of the day and night, no matter what I ate.  I EVEN SLEPT well with my CPAP machine.  Why the heck am I STARVING AND CRAVING EVERYTHING???  Ahhhhhh. MY doc doubled my peogesterone to help sleep.  Well, heck no.  I'll do without.  It's not necessary for me, thank goodness. I DID crack and ate a chocolate Easter egg.  Oh well.  I'm gonna take today off but not over eat.  Maybe a little Chinese beef with veggies. I'm trying not to go insane.  This should pass in a day or two.  It will set me back a week in weight loss. I can live wH that.

When Remeron did not work to increase the appetite in my 90-yo Mom, on hospice with advanced dementia, we tried Megace. It is progestin. OMG, it worked. Every evening, her dinner was beaucoup ice cream with secreted meds (a palliative dinner). She gained about 14 pounds. Later, it gave her a bit of spotting, which made think it may have given her some kind of PMS mood, too.

Wow Bliss thanks for sharing that. That's what I'm on. It's been really a LOT OF WORK the last few months losing. I've been fighting hunger. She doubled my dose and I finally put 2 and 2 together! Dang. I wish i had warning. I'm going off it immediately. I don't need it.

I can relate. My recent 25 lb weight gain happened 3 months after I started progesterone. Like you, mine isn't necessary so I quit in mid Jan and have been focused on getting these extra lbs gone. started Fat Secret to be more accountable and accurate with what Im eating and the movement Im doing. Had a huge reduction in cravings since going off the progesterone. Never going back on it, that's for sure.

I hate when I want to eat constantly and am never satisfied or full. Steroids do that to hubby.

Yes, Jenkabba: I had not known that, even after reading a lot about birth control and hormones when I was young. Geriatricians tend to shy away from Megace, but got it after I asked if my mom could get some Marinol, which at the time was just for chemo patients.// With Megace, Mom actually asked for snacks like yogurt. That had not happened in her then-current condition. === I used the Deproprovera shot (also progestin) for a year when I was 40, and quit when it resulted in a few pimples-didn't detect any other physiological changes. ===

I've been playing around with carb cycling with hormone phases after watching a lot of a certain chiropractor's 🙄 videos on YouTube and reading one of her books. Skeptical, as she also spouts a lot of unscientific woo. But there's sure something to when fasting works and when I feel better with sweet potatoes, berries, etc. Thank you for bringing this up!

Craigy i for sure do terribly with carb cycling. I see no point unless you want to. Ya. No on those chiropractor shills selling their suplaments wanting to be MDs 🤣 I'm sure some are ok. Low carb for sure helps calm those hormone swings.

Yes indeed, that experimentation ruined my equilibrium, imperfect though it was, and drove me here. Not sure how to feel about ovulating again at my age; I'd forgotten how bad mittelschmerz was! Years of very LC had nixed that for me. For now just tracking, as I find my way back to well being, on several levels.
