Greeeeeeetings Best Buddies!

My gym, Orange Theory Fitness, currently is having a "Unload Your Clothes" campaign. They are collecting clothes from members and will donate them for us!

Unbelievable how many pairs of pants, jackets and tops were HUGE on me but I still had them hanging in my closet. In the past, I often saved a couple pants and a couple tops in the larger sizes..."just in case" I might need them!

NOT.THIS.TIME! I unloaded ALL the fat clothes and filled an entire large green garbage bag - the kind we use for collecting leaves in the yard! There are about 10 pair of pants (up to size 20), four jackets, six tops (some size 20 and 22) and a dress (size 2X)!

What a great feeling! You should try it!

Great way to commit to your new size and support your self-image as the real you!

Wonderful HCB! I did that for a women's center a few years ago.. donated all of my larger clothes. It does feel great to unload them and never turn back.

That's amazing !!! I'm going to do the same thing once I'm further down in weight. I also kept mine just in case and refuse to do the same again.

Good work! It just shows how far you've come.

I love this idea. I am engaged in an overall cleaning of the house, basement, and garage, and I have a rule that something has to leave the house every single week. Sometimes it's as small as old cell phones to be donated at AT&T for domestic violence victims. But more often it's big-size clothes out of a drawer I've managed to get cleaned during the week. My goal is that by the time I celebrate my 30-year anniversary in this house, in January 2018, the whole place will be streamlined and no more piles of stuff, no more things I never use and save because..well just because. Just FYI -- if you are donating directly to a charity, try to time your donation to match the season -- because many charities don't have room to store off-season clothes. For example, right now I'm reviewing all the coats and sweaters and scarves and winter shoes and boots to make a big donation to one of the charities I favor. I wish I could say that there's noticeable progress in my house, but it still feels pretty crowded!

That is such a good thing your gym is doing. I kept some of my fat clothes, they are in a plastic bag in the back of my closet.

As I make new clothes I am donating the biggest. 16's and 18's are gone, hopefully never to return to my closet!

Mine are going to a shelter I don't have too many yet but I expect to. I'm also sorting through my house and donating that stuff too. It a rehab shelter and they have a resale shop. I firmly believe everyone deserves a second chance (or third or fourth whatever it takes).

So awesome and what a great feeling that you don't need them anymore!

Good for you! I lost, then regained and the suffering of having few clothing choices of which none felt good was part of what prompted my recent weight loss progress. Enjoy feeling good in smaller clothes and trust that you have all you need to keep moving forward to greater health.

HCB!! Good for you. I have 3 more big piles from my downstairs storage closets. Everything too big except a couple pairs of jeans (I can hold them up with a belt) and t-shirts will be saved for painting and other grubby jobs as I work on my house this winter. I need to sort through it and take a few things down to my DD who is losing her baby weight that I think she might be able to use. If she can't she can do whatever with. I NEVER EVER want to go back to those sizes!! LOL

Nice Job!

I agree WFN - I really do NOT want to ever backslide like I have in the past...when the clothes get tight...it means more focus on the food plan!

Yippee! Congratulations on this first of many rewarding times in your journey!

Doing the same thing this week. No more saving "just in case" I gain more weight. If I find myself looking for those "just in case" clothes I know I have to get back to losing. Just de-cluttering makes me feel lighter!

Well done H, and everyone else who has got rid of too-big clothes! I plan to be doing the same next spring 😀

And, I hope you enjoyed your theatre trip last night. That's a play I'd love to see live.

@heidij1123: Yes the play was superbly done and very effective at portraying the Harper Lee book. Dinner was expensive and rather blah...we were lucky because we got a Gift Certificate for the restaurant...because we would not ever choose to eat there - pretentious and overpriced. I did have some torte cake thinking it would be a nice treat...hardly worth it though!

A closet cleaning that cleanses mind, body and soul . . . I like it! I've had similar experiences with 'treats' here and there since being on FS -- but at least it serves as a good reminder/deterrent for that 'next time'!

I've been in an abuse shelter and have donated many clothing items to several over the years. I especially appreciated the items my children received at the time. I was lucky and had laundry in the back of my van and had clothes to continue working without spending lots of $$. Most now go to the Salvation Army, if needed clothes go to the abuse shelter or they sell the in their stores to fund their programs. Congrats!!
