wholefoodnut's Journal, 04 September 2015

I'm looking forward to escaping the norm for the weekend. It's peaceful at my DD's log house in the woods but often busy with friends and family.

I've taken 2 days off exercise this week as my body was sore Wed and simply exhausted yesterday. Will get a workout in before I leave today as I will have to wait on the dryer to finish packing. Then take the suspension straps with me for the weekend.

I think the tiredness is dealing with the atmosphere of stress at work with many many changes going on. We have lost numerous people in the 2 departments I work in and more are leaving next week. Some have transferred to new positions, a few fired, a few left the company but they don't seem to be replacing anyone. Same work, less people to do it but still have to keep up all the same standards. I'm going to try starting my day with some exercise starting next week. I hope that helps my attitude, it helped before and then got out of the early am exercise habit.

Time to get ready for work.

Log house in the woods sounds fabulous! Stress at work is not good, hard to deal with changes and extra workload. I'm sure the change of scene will do you good. You're doing very well to be working full time at your age anyway, Jeri. I know people in their 50s who find it very hard, as did I. Have a nice bit of R&R this weekend 😀 And yes it was a live showing of an actual performance. I think they must build in a few minutes delay to allow for hitches. It was the National Theatre from London. The Royal Shakespeare Company also do them, so does Covent Garden for opera. We prefer the NT, though.

Ugh . . . the last company I worked for went through multiple bankruptcies and the workforce seemed to shrink every year (despite the workload remaining relatively stable), so I'm familiar with that kind of stressful environment and can completely empathize. Glad you can 'get away from it all' this weekend and 'regroup' and starting the day off with exercise sounds like a good 'coping mechanism.'

It's important to listen to our bodies and good that you took a break from exercising when that's what your body needed. I'm taking it easy today, just walking to keep things moving and hopefully work a little soreness out of the muscles. I hope the stress at work gets better, that's one of the things in life that we don't have as much control over, but have more control in the way we handle it. Your AM workout sounds like part of a good plan to handle it. My wife just some exercise straps/bands yesterday and we're going to take them with us travelling over the weekend. Hope you enjoy your weekend escape and can get some relaxation time!

Heidi, how cool getting to watch a performance that way!! MY DD and SIL built their house and moved down there about 10 years ago. I haven't been down there as much as usual this summer due to their schedules and mine. I've made a lot of good friends there so it's always a nice break to enjoy friends and family.

It is interesting how my body "screams" at me - sometimes the muscle soreness is of the type that responds well to more stretching and another workout; sometimes it is of the type that says, "Stop it - just rest already!" Today is a rest day!

Leigh, just lots of changes going on at the company I work for mostly for the good I think as we are doing a lot of cross training for other departments so we can help each other out as need arises. Lots of our staff is very change resistant so the stress levels sky rocket anytime there are changes, for me it's roll with the punches. I have no worries about my position. Just more tired of other people being stupid affecting my patience. LOL

Oh, of course! Wasn't meaning/trying to suggest your company is the sinking ship mine was . . . just identifying with the 'atmosphere' of major changes and stress in the workplace . . . have fun in the woods!

It sounds as if you are due some R and R from exercising the brain and the body. Have a great weekend at the cabin in the woods with family. Hugs!

Tamarah, where are you from? Leigh, there are quite a few who are worried about their jobs. They have this new efficiency evaluation program that many are being held accountable to. My dept it's more a planning tool as we are on the phones so if we are busy we are, if not, not much we can do about it. Stayed up too late chatting with the DD and mindlessly sipping on beer. Slept in some with a very late night. Everyone else is still asleep except SIL he went fishing with a bunch of guys.
