heidij123's Journal, 09 August 2015

Okay, going to start logging inches now and then. For some reason I find this more of a touchy subject than weight. Maybe because it's more descriptive? Anyway here goes:

Height 5' 5"

Chest 40"

Waist 36" (which rather shocked me because I can tell from clothes I have already lost a few inches there, and I know that for women it's a health risk to be over 33")

Hips 42"

Weight today was a little down on yesterday, but not recording it as I think I may have been slightly dehydrated because I slept in. Don't want to be peeved when it goes back up tomorrow! So call it 169 pounds. (😁 Still a novelty being in the 160s! 😁)

Whew! That wasn't so bad, was it? Going to hit the post button ... NOW!

Good for you. I started doing the measurements, I keep losing where I put them. Good idea to post them so you can go back and look. I'm hoping to come across my starting ones someday. congrats on the 160's

Based on your stats, your calories are spot on, your macros are spot on, and you are losing weight at a healthy steady pace. Good on you. Keep it up!

Brave girl! You're headed in the right direction. How we look as far as overall shape and how our clothes fit are better indicators of how we're doing than the scale, which tends to fluctuate a couple of pounds day to day depending on how much starch we're eating.

You are looking good! I'll share in your pain...here goes nothing. Height 5', chest: 37, waist: 32 hips: 42! weight: 134.8. I've lost inches and am losing pounds at a steady rate. I feel better, and in my humble opinion everything is firming up and I look better as well. Thanks for the nudge to post this Heidi! You are doing a fabulous job!

Thanks all for the support! Loooking forward to seeing your measurements, Jeri! Glad to hear my macros are good, Giles, still struggling to understand that stuff and how it applies to me! Thanks for encouragement, Musician! And thanks Spiritspell for sharing my pain, lol! You're looking good 😀 (big grin!).

Heidi, here is now, not sure where I started: waist 29, hips 35, thighs 21, upper arm 11.5 height 5"5" weight 130. Legs, arms, abs are what I'm really working on to tone, also my bit of a saggy bottom (that will come with the legs/glutes)

It's always good to use measurements in addition to weight. Body recomposition causes what appears to be a stall or weight gain. This way to can still measure your progress :)

It is Catherder. I keep losing them LOL. Write them down where I won't lose them and can never find them again.... I've ended up gaging by clothing.

@wholefoodnut, Have you ever thought of putting data into a Google spreadsheet backed up on the cloud?
09 Aug 15 by member: GilesBathgate
No, Giles, I know nothing about a google spreadsheet only those on excel which I don't have on my lap top.

@wholefoodnut, check it out. Its like excel but in a web page.

Good for you, Heidi! I've been curious about my measurements as well, but I need to go buy a tape measure and agree with everyone above that it's probably an even better standard of measure vs. the scale. You're progress to date is also a good 'standard of measure' for others as well!!

Okay, you've inspired me. I've been busy today, but I will measure tomorrow. Grace

Thanks for measurements, Jeri. I think you are now about what I was in my 20s! That's something else for me to aim for!

If you want a spreadsheet, use Libreoffice, it is free. It is the same team that started Open Office and includes everything MS Office has. Measurements can be so deceiving as they don't portray your level of fitness. When a Woman goes into and byond menopause, the reduction in oestrogen changes a womans shape and her midrift starts to increase in size. Men reach a certain age, and the same things happen as the body chemistry changes. That ever elusive struggle to get back to your twenty something size, can be achieved, but only at the expense of constantly burning a lot of calories and reducing your food intake, even then it may not be achievable. It is not really a lifestyle change a lot of people can make, it is whatever makes you feel happy. I am of course grossly over weight according to all the charts and I have no idea what my measurements are. I will be happy when I can get into a pair of jeans I have kept for just that purpose. :)

Forgot to say kudos for posting your measurements anyway. If you want to use those figures as a benchmark then that is fine.

There is a fairly good correlation between adipose tissue and level of health.

More things I learn on this site besides health and fitness. Now spreadsheets!! Nifty, info I will check them out!! I've been missing the office that I had on my old computer I don't think the xp 2010 version would still be compatable and the excel on my tablet is a nightmare to try to use with no mouse avail.
