So I got a dog today. I was going to get one from the shelter but got him from craigslist instead. There was no fee, the people who had him are moving out of state and just wanted him to have a good family. They rejected a few people before allowing me to bring him home. He is an 11 month old black lab. I forgot how much fun puppies are. And the male ones who hump, great joy. Ha ha. Friday will be beach day for him. I'm taking him swimming at simmons park. I hope he likes the water.

I never wanted a dog, then 16+ years ago I walked into petsmart for something and it was a dog adoption day. I saw this sweet little yellow lab mix and melted. I was holding her and one of her litter mates peed all over someone, I put the dog I was holding down and she peed all over the floor. I knew right then that was my dog (because she didn't pee on me) and we had her for 16 years. She left us in February and I wasn't ready for another dog until now. I still miss my Clio but she taught me about loving dogs. I was always a cat person but because of her I'm both (and fish, and a hamster or two may have been thrown in there somewhere)

it was a hard year for me. Lost Beanie a daschund to cancer and then her sister who was 15 almost a year later to CHF. But I didn't stop I have Lola who is a rescue and is 4years we think. For some reason she has an enlarged heart but is doing well on medication and now we have our shelter dog Joy a daschund and something mix. She is about 6 months old. We drive an ,18 Wheeler and they go with us everywhere. They are my therapy. My husband had 5 children from a previous marriage and he and I have been married 21 years and I'm still just his wife till they need money. So I have quit getting my heart broke and I turn my attention to my critters and the wonderful man I married. No I wasn't the other woman they were divorced 5 years before we met.

Enjoy your lab Rose! They are special dogs. I adopted Buddy, when I bought a house from a couple that was splitting up and neither could take him. He was definitely the most expensive dog I ever bought but worth every penny.
