Got a nice surprise this morning! Turns out I've been walking about 1/4 mile MORE each day than was being recorded. It seemed like I've been walking more than 1/4 of a mile when I do my price monitoring jobs in the morning. I checked online, and when you walk with the phone in your hand ON the handle of the shopping cart, you don't get an accurate reading. Usually my grocery trip shows 2/10 of a mile walked. This morning, I pushed the cart with one hand, and held the phone in my other, swinging naturally as I walked. Sure enough, it was 1/2 mile instead of just over 1/4th.

Weight was up this morning, but I didn't have a BM yesterday, and hadn't had one before weigh-in. Should be back down again tomorrow.

Water drinking has gone well. I'm getting in eight 8-oz bottles a day with ease now. Today, I'm actually going to drink more than that. For now, I'm just trying do decrease the amount of Diet Coke I drink. Come to find out, I had been drinking over THREE liters a day (1-1/2 two-liter bottles). Just cutting back to one 2-liter is still a challenge, but I'm making small progress in that direction. (Remember, my min-habit is only to put four bottles of water by my chair in the morning.)

"Atomic: A single, irreducible unit of a larger system." As you think about your goals, try to think what is the tiniest thing you can do toward accomplishing it. Make THAT your goal, and give yourself self-confidence by racking up daily wins! Chances are, you'll do MORE than your mini-goal, but you don't have to. Try it, and see what happens.

What is YOUR tiniest step toward a daily goal - something you can do on the worst day of your life? Share it here, and then do it every day, starting today.

Made a fruit smoothie yesterday - frozen banana, frozen blueberries, strawberries, vanilla yogurt, and a bit of whole milk. It was very good. I think I'm going to freeze some of the strawberries, too, to make it more icy-cold.

Made a big pot of Butter Beans in my Instant pot yesterday. I usually cook them on the stove for a couple of hours. Twenty minutes in the IP and then let them stay in the pot for another hour on "keep warm." Very nice and tender. Two large bags of frozen baby lima beans, 4 slices salt pork fat back, 1/2 pound chopped country ham, 1-1/2 Tbsp. Kosher salt, and a stick of butter. Mmm. Delicious! I love my InstantPot!

The mini goal is great idea. For me, I wake up and within a couple of minutes (I was in the army) I am in the kitchen making my wake-up drink. One week it was blended celery (half a bunch) 1/2 cup pineapple chunks) put in a towel and squeezed the juice out, one week it was cactus (no toweling), one week it was beetroot (no toweling). This was before I had anything to eat. Then, the next mini set up was an hour after wakeup drink, 2 cups water, 1 green apple, 1/2 cup uncooked oats. (not steel oats) blend and drink. Then, an egg and a walk with the dogs. Sometimes, I'd have my salmon with salad, nuts, dates for my regular breakfast. Smoothie lunch, very light dinner no later than 5 p.m. Bedtime snack, no sugar, no oil peanut butter on a spoon. Of course, I would have my quart-size mason jar of water 3 or 4x a day, one with lemon so as not to destroy what is left of the enamel on my teeth. So, much for my mini's. I hope it helps others.
