Bought a second cane today. It's hard to hold the one in my right hand, due to grip issues. However, I can walk a bit faster and with better posture using a cane in either hand. One could say I have both "lost my grip" and "become more stable" at one and the same time :)

I don't know if it's doable for you, but swimming will be the best exercise for you, I'm sure. I've read your profile and I'm sure that once you have buddies and get involved with members that have lost more than 100+, you'll be able to tackle your health and weight problems one day at a time. There are a lot of success stories on this site. (however, mine is not one of them, but I keep trying :) Feel free to ad me on as a buddy! I'm not the greatest example, but for sure, I'll encourage you. TC

Thank you all for your welcome and support! Facing challenges one day at a time is the only way for me to cope. I thank God daily for helping me to face life's tribulations. I do plan on getting into a pool this summer now that the local pool is open \o/ Yay! I agree wholeheartedly with eating real food. I'm blessed with a husband who enjoys cooking and will work within my diet (he also benefits by losing weight with me). So, most dinners are cooked from scratch, with 'planned-overs' for my lunches during the week. Almost every diet out there can be pared down to "eat less - exercise more - and use our product/gimmick/secret ingredient/etc" I'm just leaving out that last part and focusing on the basic premise of eat less/eat better & exercise more. Thank you all again for your encouragement!

Thank you! I am committed to making this lifestyle change stick. My husband is my cheering squad, coach, shoulder to cry on, and all-around good guy :) This time, I am setting realistic goals and making sure that the things I'm changing in order to lose weight are things I can continue doing the rest of my life. Some of my "bad" eating habits are so ingrained that rather than trying to stop doing them after 50 years, I'm making them work FOR me instead. As an example I eat when I read. Rather than trying to change this completely, I am changing *what* I eat. Now I have a huge bowl of salad insthavior cead of a bag of chips. I'm not beating myself up about the "unconscious" eating and am instead looking at the positive; I'm eating better food.
