Christina Maria Thompson's Journal, 21 May 2014

I hate the dreaded scale!!! I was at the doctors office yesterday and of course they like to weigh you at every single visit. I had just recorded a new low for myself a few days ago and the scale there put me up an extra 5 lbs. so when I got home I had to weigh myself on my home scale which was 2 ibs less than the one in the doctor's office. I honestly think they set the scales in Heath Care type places so that people will feel bad and makes them think more about their weight issues... Idk, maybe it's just me?

lol, the scales at doctor's offices are always off, imo. The infant scale at our old office weighed my newborn a pound under his birth weight. I had to take in our official postal scale (that he was weighed on at birth because we had a home birth) to prove to them that he had not lost a pound in a week (had gained half a pound instead). I think we put too much stock in doctor scales but they don't calibrate them as often as they should.

dont go by the scale. Scale weight does not show you difference between muscle and fat. take pictures of yourself and measurements if possible. thats the best way to actually SEE the progress. throw the scale away.

Doctors scales are supposed to be calibrated regularly but many are not. So many people step on them. They always seem to be off. Use whatever scale you weigh on regularly as your "official" scale and don't worry about the others. All scales are different but should be with a few pounds of each other. Flooring also effects the scale (should be hard level surface).

So true how we look at these numbers that " they " say we should all be within a certain range and beat ourselfs when we don't fall into the so called " right " weight. The scale does help but I think more in a general term and what may be right for one is not nessarally right for another. I have a girlfriend whom is the size of an average man with very large bones so where does she fit into this " right " weight thing??? Just sayin...

True...the numbers don't always tell the story, but your jeans certainly will (those suckers NEVER lie)!! Calibrate your home scale and let it be your official to track your highs and lows just to have a gauge as to what your 'jeans' are telling you :D

A 3 pound difference is not something I'd freak out about. I lose that much weight going to the bathroom

It's not the 3 lbs its the bouncing back and forth I was speaking of that has been going on with me for months maninblu... I loose 5 lbs from a healthy bowel movement when I'm lucky enough to go like that, lol... Thanks for the support!!! The home scale is now the offical weigh device for weigh ins :)
