Same weight =p Was almost at 1600 calories yesterday. Getting very close to maintenance there o.0 Frustrating staying off the bike. I think my abdomen is feeling better.

Although I am fairly certain at this point it is a hernia. If I laugh or cough and put my hand against the spot, it doesn't hurt. If my hand isn't pressed against the spot and I laugh or cough, it hurts like crazy. That is symptomatic of a hernia, not a strained muscle (which would still spasm and hurt regardless of what was pressed against it when laugh/coughing). So that's fun. Idk why I'm getting it now though, and not any time during the last 5 years when I was coughing so violently I had blood vessels burst on my chest and face. It seems kinda... silly for a little bike ride with the resistance notch up one setting to trigger a hernia when all that coughing didn't. I understand that the coughing probably still led to it and the one bike ride the other night was just the last thread, still- seems a little ridiculous.

That's a life I guess =p We had a good day yesterday. My husband was off so we went to the park with the boys and flew kites.

They had a lot of fun doing that. Then we came home and gave the dog and car a bath. It was 89 degrees yesterday. Summer is well on it's way. Won't be long befor the lake beach is open. The boys are counting the days. We have an awesome local lake beach with real sand, mussels that liter the shores with shells to hunt and fish that have no fear of people and will swim right next to you. Can't wait to start spending some days there this summer =)

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Please see a doctor!! It could only get worse. If anything, you'll at least know if it is or is not a hernia.

Hernias are common and left untreated, can be fatal. Not trying to scare you, but sometimes body organs an start coming out of them. It would take a lot for this to happen. If you have had surgeries, surgical hernias are common. I had to repair one, twice. Both were from surgeries. The operation is simple and pretty much all surgeons do them. good lucK! And you beach sound awesome!

No abdominal surgeries(my children were vaginal births, my cancer was at the bottom of my uterus and they went in vaginally with a camera- I was actually awake and watched the entire proceedure, as did my now husband- there was no reason to create another opening and increase risk of complication when God provided one for us). Further, no indication this is a serious hernia- they usually hurt some when they first form. Many hernias are not even recommended to be treated for a while because the only treatment is surgery and the danger of surgery can be worse then a slight hernia. I will mention it at my next doctor visit, but unless I notice symptoms of fever or worsening pain I don't feel it's in need of immediate attention. I will go in more immediately if the pain doesn't continue to recede or if I notice a spike in temp or etc... Thank you for the concern though. I do appreciate it. If it is a hernia I will probably be considering finally doing the hysterectomy my doctir has been pushing for since my youngest weaned and have the hernia dealth with at the same time. I haven't been looking forward to that- as surgery scares the bejeezus out of me, but this might be God's way of giving me a little nudge.

That definitely sounds like a hernia, I think I didn't read the symptoms properly last time because I thought it hurt when you pressed against it :P I'm glad you're feeling better now! That's definitely a plus! If you're taking any non-steroid anti-inflammatory medication continuously, that may be causing the hernia. I'm no doctor but I've read about that NSAIDs inhibit this substance in our bodies that is responsible for the constant repairing the stomach lining, and that is probably also the case with other organs. It's great you're feeling better though!

This same substance that constantly repairs the lining of the stomach is the same which is responsible for causing inflammation. That's why those anti-inflammatory drugs target it.

I had a hernia. Mine didnt hurt but was a lump that I needed to get checked out. I had it repaired surgically -outpatient (laproscopically). Very small scar remains and it never returned.

OK- but I would have it checked! Although perfusion may be a hernia, I am not doctor. I would hate to hear you put off a doctor visit and it was more serious. That is what they are for! Take care and hope it all works out.

I definitely agree with the above!

I just wanted to update. The pain turned acute this evening. I went to urgent care who sent me to the er. Atm it seems most likely to be a ovarian cyst (I have pcos) which I am feeling displaced pain from. The acute pain tonight, imo, was probably the cyst tearing. Going to do a ultrasound to confirm in a bit (& make sure the more acute pain wasn't an ovary torquing). Once given the idea the pain does feel very similar to an ovarian cyst, even to the not hurting as bad when applying pressure during coughing/laughing. The feeling of pain is obviously too highfor it to be where the cyst is, but sometimes our brains mix up where a sensation is coming from =p Either way, just wanted to thank you all again for the concern and let you know the probable outcome. Hopefully I'll be back on my bike Monday =)

Ultrasound did show a cyst on my left ovary. So by all accounts what I am experiencing is some displaced pain from that. So what hurts isn't actually by my belly button, but considerably lower, although it is on the same side as I was feeling it. It was just coincidental that the pain started at the end of the bike ride. Hopefully be out of here soon and have a follow up to make sure this cyst goes away =p

Oh, wow! So scary (and I'm sure it hurts unbelievably)! So glad you caught things in time before something catastrophic. Prayers and hugs coming your way and please try to get some rest at some point tonight. :D

Thanks LuC, the pain isn't ever fun but it helps a lot to know exactly what is wrong and that I can go back to doing whatever I can physically handle. Generally biking should have no effect on the cyst, except as it increases the discomfort by jostling it. As soon as the doctor mentioned the possibility of an ovarian cyst I was pretty sure that was it. I am still feeling the pain by my belly button, but it does feel exactly like the larger cysts I've had in the past. I just wasn't making the connection because the feeling was in the wrong place. Not sure why my brain is telling me the area by my belly button hurts (which, ironically is a semi common hernia are) but I guess displaced sensation does happen, so it is what it is. Going to try to head to bed now. Best of dreams to you =)
