Completed Day #3 of fasting with no problems. I DID drink one ounce of Diet Coke on a couple of different occasions. I find that it stabilizes my breath, and gives me the stress-relief or reward-benefit that I feel like I need at times through the day. All totaled, I probably had 5-oz of DC. Apparently it wasn't so much that it would make me retain water, as I was still down another 1-1/2 pounds this morning. God is showing Himself mighty in my behalf. I've been spared from most temptations (even when my husband had a mushroom-swiss burger, and through all of the Pizza Hut commercials on TV). I'm praying He will continue to hold me up and empower me to complete this extended fast. I also want the bondage to food to be broken so I can have my eating under control and make nutritious choices when I return to. I appreciate everyone's supp9ort!

Nice work. Not advocating this, but I have swilled DC by the case while fasting. No effect on fat loss.

You are doing good, stick with it (and the water). Love ya!

Diet Coke has no calories, so you're golden. Why not continue to consume in moderation, like anything else, especially if you enjoy it?

You are doing great! Better than me. I guess I need to get on it with fasting myself.

Break bondage to food... hmmm. Food is, and always will be a delicious sensory experience that is necessary for life (and for most of us on FS, prone to overindulgence). Fasting is one thing, but I wouldn’t wish for anyone to think that way... food will always be in our lives, it’s how we live with it.

Thanks for the thoughtful comments, everyone. Yes, I know that Diet Coke is bad for me - nothing good about it. It is an addiction (as is food), and I am trying to curb it. Yesterday, I had about 8 ounces, all totaled, drinking it one ounce at a time "as needed" (LOL). I hope that God will remove that stronghold from me as well. For right now, though, it is really helping me to NOT have to abstain from BOTH food and Diet Coke. Perhaps the "training" I'm doing in getting myself just to drink an ounce (especially after I've done something that I think should be rewarded - like vacuuming the pool, or doing the grocery shopping) will set me up for success in learning how to limit my food consumption, as well.
