Debbie Cousins's Journal, 31 March 2021

Starting first of two 24-hour fasts this week. Finished lunch at 1:15 yesterday, and will wait to have lunch/dinner at 1:15 today. I almost CAVED yesterday late afternoon, because I had to take my MIL to the grocery store and they had these HUGE navel oranges at Walmart. I bought 5 and wanted one SOOO badly when I got home. Thankfully, my accountability friend just "happened" to text me (I usually initiate texts between us), and she was able to talk me off the ledge. I reminded myself: "Delay, Don't Deny." So, I CAN have that delicious, ripe, juicy, fragrant orange at 1:15 today. I'm not deprived in any way. All I have to do is wait for the appropriate time.

Weight up by a pound this morning, which surprises me, because I thought I was done with the post-fast weight-gain. I kinda thought I would keep MORE off, since I stayed off the Diet Coke (now 18 days clean); but, it is what it is, and I'll take it.

Without all the snacking, it has been hard to get my Calorie count UP high enough to the set point where I want it to be. Still gotta work on that, I guess. I think NO SNACKING is the way to go, though, so my body isn't constantly squirting out insulin and burning glucose, and has a chance to burn some of my "on-board stored fuel" (i.e. FAT).

"Only" 7-1/2 more hours til I get that orange! Gotta get some stew going for dinner. Will have grandkids, and am picking up McDonalds for them and my husband at 11. That's a temptation I can easily withstand - though not eating french fries out of the bag on the way home, is something I need to remind myself!

Hope everyone has a lovely Wednesday. Praying that the egg-coloring we're going to do today won't result in a giant mess and dyed hands all around!

Mess and dyed hands is part of the fun 😂 Enjoy your grandkids.

I wish I had some grandchildren to have dyed hands and mess. You are doing great. Just hold out with the snacks. It's okay with the orange but it will turn to sugar in your body. It's a trade-off. Maybe in the future, you will decide to have 1/2 of it at a time. How about some protein?
