Cindy Thompson's Journal, 15 January 2011

Good morning everybody! I'm thinking of making some vegetable beef soup today. Some stew meat, beef broth, green beans, broccoli florets, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, okra, cabbage, yellow crooked neck squash, zucchini, fresh parsley, red bell pepper, lemon juice, salt and pepper, Just don't know how to put it in my food diary when I eat it? Any ideas? I haven't been one to use recipes because I don't know how to put the food into my food diary. Hope all my peeps are having a great day. Talk soon. Love and Hugs{{{}}}

Good Morning Cindy. Soup sounds good. Love soups. When I use a recipe I go to my cookbook add the recipe and the servings, you don't have to submit for publication....and it gives the nutritional count to add to your food diary...not sure if there is any other way. Enjoy your weekend, I know you will.

MMMMMMMMM your soup sounds delicious. I do just what Raven does and then FS breaks it all down for you per serving. Enjoy and you can ship some this way.lol Have a great day Cindy.:)

It can be cumbersom. I put all the ingredients in the recipe section. I always title stuff starting with my name, as usually basic things like beef stew, will already be in the data base. You don't have to put all that they ask for. If you just put a symbol or something, it will let you continue. I always go the extra mile of then weighing the whole item like chile after it is cooked. And then looking at the entire calories for the item, decide how many servings I think would be correct. (Oh, so when I first start the recipe, for servings I just put 1. That is how you get the entire calories for the entire soup, etc.) Then when I eat the stew or chile, etc., I weigh out the serving. I hope that made sense. But you'll figure out the way that works best for you, I'm sure. :)

Cathy, I enter the recipe, put it in as 1 serving, don't share with the FS community, and then it can be edited. Then, when I am done making it, I measure it and decided how many servings the whole thing makes, and go back into the recipe and edit the number of servings. So, if I make a pot of soup that is 12 cups, I will make it 12 servings, which will break the recipe down into the calories, etc for a cup of soup. Then you can enter how ever many cups you eat, and it will tell you the info for the amount that you eat.

Thanks Cathy and Step! We have some great cooks here on Fatsecret. I'm sure that both of you fit into that catagory. Steph, you and Evie started this soup or stew thing out ya know. I just made my own version. How was the lamb stew that your husband made you. I'm sure it was yummy. Love and hugs sis.
