Jillzee00's Journal, 10 January 2014

I thought this would be harder, but I'm actually enjoying this. I'm a very slow eater, but it feels like I'm eating faster because I've really decreased my portions. I'm now trying to eat even slower, so that it seems like the "hormal" amount of time, but with a "smaller" portion. I'm laughing at this because at lunchtime, half a small sandwich doesn't take long to eat, so I keep putting it down, talking, putting it down--trying to take half an hour to eat this tiny little half a peanut butter sandwich--LOL. Still having two glasses of wine in the evening. I will eventually decrease that to one (from 10 oz to 5 oz). The weekends is when I usually have a little more, so we shall see what tonight brings (I have enough calories to have an extra glass, but it's not healthy).

Do you usually drink white or red? Dry reds are suppose to be healthy for the heart and contain less sugar though they are an acquired taste. Unfortunately, I prefer blush and white wines... as luck would have it! But I'd like to try to get into the reds more. My sister and I have planned some wine tastings for this summer when I will be at a point where I can have alcohol again. Just keep moving forward. You are doing great!

You are doing great! I have been sugar free for one week and feeling better already, no processed foods, just meat, cheese, nuts, fruit and veggies, It is a hard road but it will be easier knowing we are all on that road together, I think it is ok to have that wine and lose slowly, thanks for sharing!

Jlosmile--I drink both--red or white. I used to drink primarily white, but I've been drinking red lately. I don't like sweet, too much. I was drinking pinot grigio or chardonnay. I am drinking Merlot lately, though. They say champagne has less calories, so I will have to check that out! Eventually, I will cut all out except for the weekend. I did that last time when I was getting to a really big part of my weight loss. I noticed my stomach went down and looked much better. I'm not close to that point yet--LOL. Do you have a certain wine or vineyard you like? My In-Laws go to a lot of areas for wine tasting--locally and out of state. They like the NY Finger lakes, but have visited vineyards in Virginia recently. There's also a vineyard near them called, Paradox vineyards. I'm not sure, but I think this is the vineyard that three different Doctors in the area created.

BuffyBear-I am a way too slow eater--LOL. I remember my Mom taking me home to England. They were on desert and I was still eating dinner. I hate when you go out for a really nice meal and the people you are with rush you through it. I like my salad, nice conversation, a glass of wine, then the main dish--good conversation. Dang, I can't find anyone else who likes to do this. Five minutes and it's down their throats, I'm at the table by myself and they are off to do something else. LOL. I miss growing up at home where the meal was a big occasion for us all to talk and took forever!

Share Bear. I remember when I was young (and super skinny). I decided I was going to cut out sugar. It didn't last too long, but I do have to say, I drink my coffee and tea black to this day because of that. I like sweets, but not a whole bunch. I think I get fat off of food--pasta, potato salad, bread...LOL. I am actually enjoying my diet because I LOVE veggies and I feel healthier (aside from my cold)--so awake and a lot more energetic!

I'd love to know what vineyards they enjoyed in Virginia. We plan to go to Williamsburg Winery and a local brewery. There are quite a few vineyards locally so if they have some suggestions- that would be great! I have not tried any merlots so I'm hoping on our quest this summer I will find some reds I enjoy. I do like champagne but have to stay away from anything with carbonation so that's out. (sad) But when I look super hot it will be worth it right?!
