LauPug1's Journal, 29 November 2010

Not much going on here today. Just returned home from going downtown. The malls here are so packed. I went in, got what I needed, and got out of there. I don't like it this time of year. People are rude and mean.:( All is going well with my WOE. Didn't quite eat enough yesterday, but wasn't home much either. Today is much better. At noon, I've got just about all my veggies in. Feeling good about that.:) Other than that, not much happening.

Laurie, sounds like you have had a very busy few days! I am not a shopper by nature (except for the grocery store, lol), so I understand what you mean about the shopping thing. I try very hard to be extra nice to those that are extra rude. I always hope that it will make them stop and think about how they are acting! Probably wishful thinking, but it makes me feel good about me! Glad that your WOE is gooing well! I am doing good, but am still in a holding pattern! lol Oh, well, I will persevere!

Yes Stef you certainly will persevere. A few years back, I smiled at a lady that was really miserable and very rude. She asked me if I wanted to get B@#$h slapped? So now when people are that way, I just kind of look at the floor and keep walking. If I were to respond to that kind of rudeness, I would be a worse person than they are. I might get carried away and have to B@#$h slap back.lol So I bite my tongue and walk away. THEY are safer that way.lol

Good on you for not giving back what they give. You are the better person for it! Good on you for sticking to your woe! Hmmm you shovelled poo for an hour? LOL Brave woman!

yuck - i hate the malls and the whole crazy shopping thing. amazon.com has been my best friend for the past 8 years. i get 95% of everything i need for the holidays (usually at a much lower price than the stores) and it's delivered to my door step for free - love it! you're very kind and i do the same, just keep walking, don't make eye contact 'cause you never know what's going to set someone off. pretty sad though, huh?

Squiggs, not just poo, also milking, feeding calves, haying, shoveling, watering, etc. Brave woman. Your so cute.:) Sophie, I'm with you on the Amazon. I do a big part of my shopping there also, but there are just some of the small things I can't get there. Then I have to go to the mall or some other stores. Yes, it is sad that people are like that. We are more alike than we really knew.:):)

Bren, what type of cows do you have? Are they beef or milkers? We have both. In the summer we have triple the animals we have in the winter. We raise all our own meat. Thank you for taking the time to read my journal.:)

Hi, malls are crazy aren't they? No wonder so many of us have come to dislike the Christmas season. It all just seems so pointless. I tried to milk a cow when I was a very young girl - no success. I do love cows though. Not so much the back end of them - LOL - but they can be quite sweet. I've riden one once - not too comfortable. Spent some months in the wilds of Scotland, outside toilets, no telephone, no bathroom, no bath! Milk straight from the cow while still warm. Long, long time ago.

Cows are so uncomfortable to ride! I had a sore bottom for a few days after! G

Awesome Is, living out in the wilds. While you were there did you see any of the Scotish Highlander cattle? Also called hippy cows.lol My in-laws raise them. They are gentle animals but look scary. Big horns and long hair. Stef, I know you could do it because of your love for animals. We don't milk be hand anyway, we use the milking machine. My hands wouldn't be able to take it. Bren, that is a nice herd. If Killer throws nice calves, then she is worth holding onto. What kind of beef are they?

Leanne, I will stick to riding the horses.. Much more comfortable. What I use to love doing was riding the calves when they got to be about 3-4 months old. Fast, but you always wanted to watch out for the sudden stops. I went over their heads more than once.lol

3 to 4 months old! Bless them! The poor things, it would be like sitting on a baby! Lol

Leanne, at 3-4 months old they are very strong and man can they go too.lol Some of ours that are 3-4 months old and half as tall as I am. I'm 5'5". Of course most of my calf riding was when I was much younger.lol It hurt too much now when I break bones. I've had my fair share of those too.

Bren, I love angus meat. It is top notch right along with Highlander.
