LauPug1's Journal, 01 December 2010

I really wish I could get out of the 160's. I know what I need to do, just not wanting to.lol I'm just wondering if I will ever be able to eat more than 20-25 carbs per day or if that is my limit to maintain? Oh well, at least I am healthier for my new WOL that I have chosen. I am thankful for that and I am also thankful that my body doesn't hurt the way it use to. Hope all have a wonderful day.:)

Did you start maintaining around that time that you switched your carbs up? Yay you for being healthier and less sore! That in itself is worth it, but I do understand about the stubborness of our fat LOL hugs!

Morning dear, don't give up. Stef's posts lately have been about faith and perseverance - faith in the process and perseverance that the process will happen, eventually. You look great in your pictures. I know, its how you feel inside and you probably don't feel 'there' yet. Hope you have a good day and that that damn scale moves for you soon.

I'm with Laurie, I wonder if I will ever get to 160's again. My lightest weight was 149 lb on my 30th birthday. I was miserable. I had followed an almost starvation diet to get there. I looked amazing but I was never as miserable in my life! Its all perspective, isn't it?

Bren, thank you for your support and Happy 1st to you too.:) Squiggs, kind of but lost a bit here and there. Thank you for the complements on my pictures. hugs to you too. Leanne, you have come such a long way, you will definately get into the 160's. You all will. Yes, Is perserverance that it will happen. Some days I just wish it was sooner rather than later. Sophie, dear Sophie, you will be there. Everything takes time, but you will do it. I have faith in you. We just all have to hold on to one another and keep each other motivated. I know we can all do this and we will, together. Hugs to all and have a wonderful day.:):)

Look on the bright side Laurie. You've lost over 30 pounds...THIRTY pounds! That's nothing short of positively wonderful. You're within 2 pounds of a new decade, the very decade just before your goal....your GOAL! Right now, you're within 20 pounds of goal, so you already know to expect these last pounds to be a bit difficult. Not impossible, just difficult and a bit slower. As for the 20-25 carbs, well, that range is your level for losing weight, not maintaining it. The maintenance level will be somewhat higher, not 80, but something higher than 20-25. Going through Pre-Maintenance, either before or after goal, will broaden your food choices even more. The amount of food may not change much, but choices on the higher rungs of the Carb Ladder MAY open up to you. Just depends on your own metabolism. I can well understand some of the frustration in being seemingly stuck in the 160's, but I have no doubt you'll be able to nudge your way into the 150's before too much longer. In the meantime, just keep on keepin' on and revel in the fact that you're less than 20 pounds from goal. What an achievement!!!

Laurie, this may sound blasphemous, but have you read whyguy's thread on the Atkins website? He has a theory that, if you cut your calories too low, your body goes into starvation mode and holds onto every calorie, rather than letting the lbs drop off. Lately, he's also been talking about "set points." I noticed that your RDA is around 1700 calories but for the past couple of weeks, your calorie intake has been much lower than that. Is it possible that you need to eat more to reignite the weight loss? Just a thought... helen

I have one very similiar question. Is it at all possible that I eat more than 20net carbs and still lose weight...
01 Dec 10 by member: lotus2009
Sandy, thank you for that. I really needed to hear it. By saying it myself, doesn't seem to do anything, but when it comes from someone else, it doesn't seem so bad. Thank you for that my friend.:)

Helen, also thank you. I will have to check out the whyguy's thread. That sounds interesting. I really don't know. I may need to eat more. Go figure, on a diet(my new WOL with Atkins)and not eating enough.lol Some people would say that in order to lose weight, one would have to eat less, in our case(Atkins)we have to eat more, but of the right stuff. Thank you Helen.:)

Anita, I'm going to take Helen's advice and go to Atkins.com and read the whyguy's thread. Maybe it would help answer your question as well. So you might want to check it out. Maybe see you on the Atkins site.:)

Laurie, I am in the same boat that you are! I am just maintaining, and although I decided to move to OWL, I still don't eat more than 20 total grams a day! And still no change! I am getting tired of tbattle, but I will persevere!!!1

At least you guys are maintaining, I am adding! LOL Will keep perservering though!

Stef, yes we will persevere. I've not read the whyguy thread yet, but I am headed there as soon as I finish reading journals and responding.:)

Squiggs, you are doing great considering all the stress you have been under lately. As long as you are continuing to eat health, you are making yourself healthier. Keep it up. Once the stress is under control, you will WHOOSH, you watch.:)
02 Dec 10 by member: LauPug1
That is what I am hoping... At least we know we are eating healthier for our bodies in the meantime. Maybe I should go read whyguys thread too....
