A lot of our feelings, urges, hunger and negative thoughts are in our head. I think sometimes we don't allow our brains time to pick up messages from our stomach. For instance, I have learnt that if you are still hungry just after a meal, if you wait just half an hour, you brain will have received information that you are satisfied. Honestly this really does work. It is the same when your feeling down or discouraged. Give yourself a good talk, try to annalyse what feelings are being felt, go for a walk to get some happy endorphines ... just give yourself time for the therapy to work, we are only talking half an hour or so. You'd do this anyway with someone or something that has made you mad, you'd take yourself out of the situation for a while to cool off so you can then assess the situation clearly. So before you want to throw all your good intentions out of the window - give yourself an hour to really assess your situation. This is definately what I am going to do from now on....

Here's my comment: If you are struggling-ask for help. There are so many good people here who can help you get on the right track-whatever that may be.

Hide the scale and go on how you feel. (easier said than done) What's important is you feel healthy not a number that is most likely inaccurate. Be happy with how far you've come and look forward to where you will be.

one step at a time, one choice at a time. Before you know it, you'll realize how far you've actually come (even if there's an occasional slip up). That kind of confidence is powerful, and you begin to feel in control. I know that when you're struggling and feel OUT of control this may seem overwhelming--but it always amazes me how just a few good choices with food or physical movement empower me again. A phrase I really like is, "Fake it till you make it". Even if its the last thing you *feel like* doing, making that right dietary choice, or taking the steps, or getting in all the water can make a huge diff for the next right choice. You got this!

I'm a true believer in postive thinking, I've always try to do the best I could ,nothing ever easy if it's worth it's weight ( No pun intended but that was funny)so first like yourself ! and see what others see... health is the most important thing we need to take care of, everything else follows.......

Don't give up. Remember this isn't a race, the only finish line is at "The End", and as long as you are breathing, you can always start again!

Well, I'm sure many people know I am not much of a motivational person. I don't usually have "nice things" to share so I am trying as best as I can. Failure is only a fact when you give up. Everyone gets knocked down, the question is: Will you get back up?

People only do what they know to do...so if what you are doing is not working, or producing the results you desire...it's time to learn something new! Learn one new thing about reaching your goals...and before you know it, you have enough info to start implementing CHANGE!

Oh, so true! I've been stuck around 159 lbs for over a week now, but I can really feel my clothes getting larger, esp my pants and around my mid-section. So, I can't say that the Atkins WOE is not working; I'm just not seeing the results on the scale. But Jen's posting of those two articles on sodium were so helpful to me. One thing learned today. I just need more patience. Also, even though my household is generally "low-salt" -- most people think my cooking needs more salt bc I literally cut out or cut down salt in recipes -- I was surprised at how much salt I actually consume. I would've thought under 2200 mg/day, easy, peasy. But no! Another fact learned. Need to cut down on cheese (sigh) to get my sodium under 2200 mg/day. Will try that going forward.
