Nor have I, Drag- but I feel like if someone is writing that without saying they typically consume way more- then it's probably for attention. I ate 800 yesterday but didn't feel it was something to write about. Still at 1800+ for daily avg intake for Sept. But I have- in general- seen a lot of the "starvation mode" crap. My body would never get to that point. I'm going to eat a bagel and PB right now to be sure.

ASD or the even more ominous ASWD are real. This place is missing JoJo the Talking Bear otherwise it has it all. Admission is free...bring your own popcorn. Popcorn, not to be confused with corn.

IKR? My fasts are usually not planned as much as they just happen from my busy schedule. That’s why I eat when I’m hungry and drink when I’m not 😎. Often I’ll eat over 1000 calories in one meal. But I’m generally a 2 meal a day guy.

If I have a high calorie day, I too tend to go pretty low the next day or two or skip a day of eating to even things out. It isn't "punishment" but trying to balance the week. Perhaps when people see and comment on the posts about low calorie intake, there is the assumption that is the lifestyle a person has chosen... As opposed to someone fasting, which typically is temporary! 😁

I'm not knocking IF. I know it works for a lot of people and I do it by accident sometimes on dialysis days. I'm just not hungry in the mornings. However, one day I didn't eat breakfast or lunch and I felt sick. I was sweaty and felt faint. Same for low carb. I did low carb in the past with fantastic results...same with Paleo. Felt fantastic and it was a way of life for me. NOW, my body reacts totally differently. I just applaud what works for each individual. Know your body and be accountable. :)

I only get mad when people eat 1001 calories. It does my OCD in. Just kidding. I think it’s easy to pass snap judgments on forums like these because we only get a glimpse of someone’s life or food choices. It’s why I don’t condemn someone. It’s not my place.

I've been eating once a day fasting at between 400-800 cals and am seeing great results, I started August 26 at 232 and just hit 212 today. To each there own I guess, no one diet fits all. I use free weights every other day and don't seem to be losing much if any muscle mass either as most say you do on such a restricted diet.

Jon, you definitely are even if it isn't apparent. I did a 10 month experiment on a low protein diet and lost a lot even though at the time I didn't think I was losing any. It wasn't until I did the diet again with a high protein intake that I saw how much more muscular I was at the same bodyweight.

I usually stay at 1000 or less calories a day but try hard to get at least 40-60 protein grams within those calories. I do IF so normally have only 1 or 2 "meals" with several snacks to up the protein grams (almonds, string cheese).

Yeah your probably right, but I can afford to lose some muscle as well. Most of my daily diet is protein, I mostly eat beef jerky I make.

If you say so. Losing muscle=slower metabolism, smaller person under the fat equals you will have to drop lower in weight to be happy with the finished product, weaker so you can't push the same weight so your burn is lower, etc.

Muscle is much harder to build without gaining fat than it is to hold onto when losing fat.

Maintenance is the hardest part, there's a reason Terry Crews has maintained his body fat percentage while Oprah never maintains. Those are two extremes but you get my drift.
