Thank you for the info. I'm supposed to be on a salt-free diet. I know when I eat salt I don't feel well.

A study in 2016 found that high salt made very little impact on bone health on menopausal women

Too much salt makes me nauseous. I have a sensitive gag reflex so dentist usually give me salt - a few times I threw up everywhere. Similar effect when I eat too much sodium for the day. I mean, seawater is toxic to humans because of the over abundance of salt.

I didn't know that but I watch my salt intake because to much can trigger a migraine for me.

That’s good to know 😊 my mom is only 58 and scored a -3 on her bone density test. She now has to take a belly shot every day for 2 years. I forgot the name of the medicine. She is in good physical shape, but if it’s at all hereditary like the RA and Fibromyalgia....thanks mom, then I will be more thoughtful with it. I don’t typically do a bunch of salt but the sodium content in our food Sunday was pretty high.

Liv001– the deal here on FS is not all people are post menopausal. High salt diets in a non Keto world affects the bone development and bone strength of the daughters and grand daughters of many of the people here. High salt diets impact BP. Our salt intake is just one of many things that everyone needs to be cognizant of and to know what your own personal risk factors are related to the food choices you make on a daily basis.

I have trouble eating out in restaurants because most of the foods offered are so salty. I don’t have high blood pressure but I defiantly feel the effects for a day or two after eating more than my norm. I personnaly try to keep it less than about 2300 mg.

If you're active it is not a concern. If anything I go out of my way to get extra sodium. It is the electrolyte that we lose more than any other in our sweat.

Mahalo, good to know especially if you're older and have osteo issues.

Thx for this post... I have sodium induced high blood pressure and the Doc wants me to try to keep it between 1500-2300 mg per day. That makes it nearly impossible to eat out anymore. Now that I have weaned myself off salt, I find that some foods I used to routinely eat now taste CRAZY salty to me...
