I agree with that poster. Kids today aren't like we were and aren't being raised like we were. When I was young, I was told children are to be seen and not heard. While I don't agree with that, I know parents who let their kids run all over them. I just shake my head and say I'm thank ful my kids are grown. I wouldn't tolerate that behavior for a minute. My granddaughters do that to their mother and she is in so much denial it's so sad.

I also don't often see kids running around outdoors like we did; they seem to have to wait until adults are available for "supervised" activities.

I also think that because children aren’t off on their own with other kids, playing, they don’t often get to practice some of these skills, learn to negotiate and experience that they are not always going to win at something (that was a huge unintended result of some of the thinking of my generation resulting in more harm than good.), and get to practice making decisions. too much parental involvement where we try to make everybody happy, everybody a winner. Times are different now. Parents feel compelled to offer more protection.
