Smash84's Journal, 18 June 2010

Well I hate to say this but I am struggling. I thought this would be easier if my boyfriend did this with but but he’s leaving me in the dust! I am so proud of him. I have been trying to eat as little calories as I can but it is obviously not enough. I need to work out. I need to move! I have noticed something odd. It seems that when I eat lately, my body doesn’t tell me I’m getting full. It tells me when I’m stuffed to the brim! I’m a slow eater and usually my body tells me to stop but it hasn’t lately. Perhaps I have too much on my mind. Things have been crazy lately. I definitely need to clear my head.

It's hard. Don't you hate being derailed? You've been doing so well! Sixteen pounds cannot be ignored! You will get back on track! You will! It's great that your boyfriend is still on track because the worse thing is when both parties find themselves slipping. Just join him again. You can do it, Smash!

Keep in mind, it is a gender thing too. Men will lose faster than women every time. It may stink, it's true. So, don't beat yourself up over this. Besides, your only competition is with yourself. That's usually your biggest adversary. I think your on the right track with exercise. Even just small amounts do so much, including decreasing appetite. Pick something fun so you stick with it. Look back to your childhood or whenever you did something more active and do that activity. You'll be moving and having fun and probably stick with it because you like it. Just don't overdo it to the point you don't want to go back tomorrow. I used to stop just before I got tired so I still had a desire for it the next day. That was a trick I used in the beginning...it worked...silly psychology. You can do it and your worth it !!!

That hasn't held true for my hubby. He is losing, but not as rapidly as I did at first. It may pick up, but for now it isn't true.

You need to stick with it and not get discouraged and give up. Everyone loses weight differently. The important thing is not to give up and get moving. As someone said find something you enjoy, dance around your livingroom, play basketball, walk, bike, or wii. You just need to find something you can stick with and add more later. You are doing so well don't get too discouraged. As someone said 16 pounds cannot be ignored.

Eating as little as possible isn't the best solution. I hope you are eating enough! Don't compare you progress to anyone else's especially a man!!! Most men have more muscle than most women, do they burn more calories overall. Generally (not always) men have a much easier time losing weight than women. You can't give up! You can do this.
